It’s cliché to say that words can’t fully express how I feel at the moment. But I’ll give it the old college try considering the circumstances. This moment and the past day have been excruciating for many Haitian Americans, including myself. Like so many, we have been on watch for the latest news on the earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in Carrefour, 10 miles from the nation’s capital in Port-Au-Prince. Haitian president René Préval has gone on record to CNN saying that any number from 30,000 to 50,000 people are dead or missing from the disaster. But, as he said, it’s too early to tell. CNN estimates at least 100,000 are dead or missing. In the meantime an unknown number of people have lost their homes and/or loved ones in the aftermath. Read the rest of this entry »

First, if you’re not up on Parks & Recreation, you are seriously missing out. The show is proof that the creators of television still might just have a shred of creativity left in them. The above video – a mock-umentary of the casting call for the role of Leslie Knope – is pure hilarity as we see the leader of one of the most notable Hip-Hop “ensembles” to ever grace the stage takes on the role of a middle-aged white woman. RZA’s performance is nothing short of Oscar-worthy and any video with my future wifey Rashida Jones in it is worth watching if nothing else.

During his absence, I may just post Lil Wayne’s back for a while, to replace the Weezy face.

It just occurred to me that when they close the jail doors on Weezy F., it’s very liable to create an emergence of B-sides, outtakes, “freestyles” and tracks like this. Titled “Smackdown,” it’s a snappy little track that features one verse from Dwayne and features Skateboard P.
