Sade and Badu are releasing material. Lauryn’s been spotted doing dates overseas. It’s only right that D’Angelo make an appearance. And while I haven’t seen an official proclamation regarding a return or an album, “1,000 Deaths” sounds promising. Funky and finespun, the music is intriguing given all of the layers of sound working together at once.

Download — D’Angelo – “1,000 Deaths”

This is new shit?
not 100% sure but it could be. I spent a few mins going thru some old files and I couldn’t find this anywhere else and Kovar indicates it’s off James River.
Now I’ve been on a D’Angelo kick lately. After reading that letter John Meyer wrote to him, I decided to put all my D’Angelo songs on the iPod and see if his music is as important as Meyer made it out to be.
The verdict?
Brown Sugar/Voodoo >>>>>
Outside of the new Sade album, the only R&B I’ve been bumping the past week is D’Angelo. This new track should fit in nicely.
I can listen to “Spanish Joint,” the regular and acoustic, all day and be just fine.
“One mo ‘gin” ftw.
Voodoo is one of those joints I really want on wax. That and Goodie Mob’s “Soul Food.” Those two jawns would sound nasty on vinyl
this is an older track. questlove said he has a version from 2005, but this one is a little newer/touched up. But its still new to the public- until now!
excellent. guess he was like he didn’t want maxwell to take too much shine away, huh? either way…i like it. definitely funky.
the important question: is this fat d’angelo or skinny? i’m gonna have to separate them up like I did Luther’s music
^ LMAO

^ zAT U Greums!?
not feeling this as it sounds like Chicken Grease Pt.2 but with that being said I loved Voodoo so chances are he’ll still have a strong album if this is one of the tracks.
update: d’s myspace just updated with a banner that says Summer 2010
^^lol
esb225 this sounds nothing like Chicken Grease. They differ harmonically and rhythmically, and it’s even at a different tempo!
Educate yourself, this track is the BOMB! I’ll pay whatever I have to in order to see D’Angelo live.
orgy of funk bebe!
is this track is new, it represents a major development in d’angelo’s work as a musician and a singer. it also represents a huge leap forwards in r&b, at least from my understanding of its development over the years. if the rest of his album is like this, it will be a treasured part of my music collection. i really love d’angelo’s music, and 1,000 deaths is one of the more interesting things i’ve heard of any genre recently!
