Their time spent @ Grand Hustle hasn’t seen much by way of productivity from 8Ball the fat mack and M-J-fuckin-G. While everyone else on or affiliated with the label was making their majority of moves in Cliff’s absence, the duo was quiet for the most. New year here, Tip’s out and maybe “Bring It Back” is the invocation to what’s to come. While it doesn’t harken back to their glory days, it does feel more authentic than work produced during their brief stint with Bad Boy.
And if you’re a fan of Dro’s ad-libbing abilities, he’s okay here. I almost chalked his appearance off @ first because he started with the Yung LA inflections. But he switched it up midstroke, diggin’ his heels in a little and throwing out a “girls suck me fast, Road Runner brain (beep beep)” just to keep me laughing and hopeful that he still knows what made him a fan favorite.

The song is decent. Definitely hope to hear more from these two in the new year.
Sidenote: I’m kinda surprised there wasn’t a (||) after the “he switched it up midstroke” comment.
Bad Boy made Ball & G more relevant then they ever were on Suave House.
I propose 2010 as the year (||) (no homo) and all that is retired. I know some people like to use it to be witty, and thats cool and all, but in my experience those who are quick find a hidden meaning in other’s words are suspect themselves.
@Amp
True but it also made their music significantly worse.

I believe this is totally subjective.
“No More Drama” is their biggest song to date and both of those Bad Boy albums had joints on em.
We’ll see what they do @ Grand Hustle.

Isn’t all music lol?
I’ll agree that both had some good songs on them but I think they failed as complete albums. I would take any of their previous work over either of their Bad Boy records. But yeah time will tell if they still have it in them to make moves on Grand Hustle.
“Big songs” aside, Bad Boy was a failed experiment for Ball & G. Nothing there compared to their orig. Suave House material. Nada. That shit was violent, creative and hard. Real talk, their music took a turn after they had a bit of success with “Space Age.”

@ J Blaze: One thousand percent agree with you there. For some reason, I have always been annoyed by the no homo thing, people started purposely looking for slightly homoerotic comments just to try and make others look silly. When insecurity manifests! Damned patriarchal society.
For some reason though I gave in this morning and made my first AYO! joke ever. Felt weird, I guess I’m just confused these days. Should I be none-ing or no homo-ing that whole previous sentance?
8ball is one of my favorite MCs of all time.
no homo, though
BTW, this track is garbage. Nitti with another uninspired production.
Ball & G made some great music with BB, “Dont Want Drama”, “Dont Make Me”, “Forever”, “Relax & Take Notes”, “Stop playin games”, etc. They put out some hits with Diddy
AV
Track is decent but could have been way better coming from 8Ball & MJG!
Maybe its different because I live in the South but LAY IT DOWN is 8 ball & MJG’s biggest hit NO QUESTION. I ain’t 100% sure but Ball & G ain’t have platinum albums with Bad Boy, so how is that Bad Boy stint considered a success?
Sidenote: In our Lifetime is my personal favorite 8-ball & MJG album, and it’s definitely in my top 20 rap albums all time.
Man..i kept waiting for that beat to drop.
But, nope.
