I don’t get it. Why is Cory Gunz not a household name? I know I ask this question every time one of his songs or videos hits the site. But Lord have mercy on everything holy if I had to put money on anyone when it comes to just bars, every twelve bucks to my name would go towards Cory. Watch him sit back and casually let off some monstrous verses.
As a bonus, here’s Gunz and Joell Ortiz bodybagging another beat. I’m no A&R, but Slaughterhouse wouldn’t be making a mistake adding another young spitter to the clique.

Ask Serius Jones, Jin, __________ (insert fav “battle rapper”) why he hasn’t blown up
He’s dope but too many skits on the apprentice series…
He killed On Da Spot with Green Lantern a while back, I wasn’t as in to “heir to the throne” as I thought I’d be but I gotta keep listening, why didn’t Wayne sign him after “A Millie” he got a bunch of young rappers on there who couldn’t see Cory with a telescope…
becasue he scared of cory…thats why he aint sign him.
cory wants to be an entity like wayne and that might make for a fifty cent/game like situation.
He’s dope, but at the end of the day…wtf is he saying? I can hear his words clearly, but what is he saying? He’s proving himself to be one hell of a battle rapper, but that only gets you so far in this business.
About a year ago, I would’ve said he should be on Young Money, but they have too many artists now. He would be in the same position over there, just a little more light on him.
I don’t see the hype in this cat!
Gunz is an entertaining presence on a beat. His flow sounds more Midwest like Bone Thugs than the standard BX flow and his bars are close to a Slaughterhouse level, IMO. Proof? Listen to him dismantlin the old Special Ed beat, ‘Come on lets move it’ on Heir To the Throne.
Not freestyles. You can see it in his breaks and how he attacks the words every time he restarts.
That’s taking anything away from him though because he’s awesome, but I just saw it mentioned as a freestyle on a few other sites. And that shit’s WAY too good for a freestyle that long
*not taking
He’s proving himself to be one hell of a battle rapper

Except he hasn’t battled anyone.
Cory Gunz has sold his skill to me. I’ll buy into it. Dude is a hot lyricist with a metaphorical persona. I can’t help but think him and Nicky Minaj going back and forth with their off-beat rhyme schemes would be eargasmic slaughter. Who can keep pace with him? Dude is on his own planet with his wordplay. I don’t care if he never signs major or goes gold/platinum, his talent is worth listening to any day of the week.
Oh… and an a-side: he’s having a lot of fun with this rap ‘ish. Most everybody else is so serious. He’s just having fun. I co-sign that.
