Malice & Pusha sat down with XXL to discuss the advantageous situation of having first dibs on beatwork by Grade-A producers The Neptunes. It’s no different than having Michael Jordan for a dad or a chef for a spouse. Some of life’s little luxuries are yours for the taking and may even have you taking them for granted.
Note how Pusha T revels in how they are able to rummage through the Jay-Z or Ludacris files without reprimand. What about a Clipse file? Case in point: Til The Casket Drops.
MZ & I were discussing how you’ll probably never hear VA’s finest spit a “wack” verse, but as far a type of cohesive–and consistent sound, it’s yet to be established. Think about it. Mobb Deep thrived in the dark element, Outkast won millions over with their psychedelic funk, and fans will never criticize the Wu-Tang Clan for keeping basement break-beats alive. You can catch the Clipse remorsefully riding around with a body in the trunk on a dark record as they head to the dance floor for some Pharrell soda pop on the next one.
Good music? Most certainly. But still a little road ahead til the classic drops.

Imagine Hov over “Mr. Me Too”.
I don’t think he would’ve known what to do with that one.
Kind off subject but on subject since it’s regarding Pharrell who is part of The Neptunes! Game & Pharrell working in-studio on The RED Album check my blog for the video & footage!
anybody heard that new Obie Trice CD?
I thought dude was pretty nice but have heard barely anything about this new LP…
the “classic” has already dropped. nobody fucking bought HHNF though.
Hell Hath No Fury = 4 Cigs
I think the clipse are best over unorthodox and simplistic production of the neptunes ( as shown on hhnf)…honestly the stuff the neptunes were coming up with on that cd, I’ve never heard them do since
Is that Jojo from Run’s House in the background? Dude is a cornball.
If TTCD is 4 cigs, there is no way HHNF gets the same rating. It’s a cig better for sure. I’d give it a 4.5, and the former a 3.5. In some ways, I think TTCD is almost a four, but the edge just isn’t there. I just dropped a review of it on my blog, though.
yeh they already done dropped a classic with HHNF. and it did have a consistent sound.
but they needa move away from neptunes now…neptunes is kinda lacking in recent times.
Clipse needs another album with these productions but
then rick rubin needs a comeback with his special stuff
clipse x rick rubin = a whole lp would be totally insane !
a breathe of fresh air…99 problems type of beats…is needed for them
after ll cool j, the beastie boys… the clipse are the perfect thing for dat new collaboration called “Heaven Hath No Rage”… !
