The ultimate heist and one of the ultimate cuts that helped make OB4CL2 album of the year for most Hip-Hop heads. Let the record show that Alchemist should be credited for his output all the same. Between this and the “Microphone” video, he’s helped put a jolt into credible, hardcore rap singles.

STILL bumpin this album regularly
not a big Raekwon or Wu-Tang fan
but i enjoyed the album
dopest song on OB4CL2 hands down
but someone help me out here:
whats the difference btw Raekwon & Rick Ross (other than lyrical skill)
why doesnt anyone torch him for portraying false images
… or does he really stage diamond heists and bank robberies in his free time …

Same thing can be said for any number of rappers. It’s entertainment.
Do you expect Christian Bale to be Batman?
Does the fact he isn’t a real life superhero make his performance any less entertaining ?
@ cpeeze
do you know what hiphop is ?
This track…right here…damn…audio crack.
OB$CL II = stand-out album for 2009
I still don’t know if it’s my AOTY…Wale, Brother Ali and that new Clipse are right up there for me personally.
idk if anyone is with me…but Im digging the low, high-school-quality production skills…gives it that “America’s Most Wanted” and “COPS” feel to it…lmfao.

I’m witcha. It’s polished but gritty. Perfect contrast.
best post of the day IMO. thank you TSS bredren.
LMFAO@Greums
Kinda reminds me of the “Incarcerated Scarfaces” video. That’s a good thing.
great song…terrible video.
@ cpeeze
you are on the wrong website for real
try lifetime or nickelodeon
ok, ok. i may not have made myself clear.
i simply want to know why some rappers are slandered for being ‘fake’ or ‘false’
when other rappers who similarly rely on heavy exaggeration are praised.
it just seems like a double-standard
that is all.
@ greums: we each have our own musical preferences, even under this rather
diverse umbrella known as hiphop. I personally PREFER ‘hiphop’ that doesnt rely on portraying false images or excessive braggadocio. You know, Mos Def, Talib, Lauryn Hill, (old) Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, etc.
Or is that not hiphop?
@cpeeze
The difference is the perceived level of reality behind the words. Raekwon is known within hip-hop as a storyteller. Most of Wu-Tang use stories fairly often and while some are presented as real, most are tongue-in-cheek.
Rick Ross on the other hand presented his lifestyle and stories as real and created a public persona around them. Alot of other rap cats do this too, but depending on popularity/extreme to which they are lying, they don’t get criticized.
AND Ricky Ross was a Police Informant
that would make him a fraud and a clown
ross was a C.O, a ‘prison guard’
that was respectable for a regular job.. cuz u need to feed like yall.
his error was to say no, it’s not me on these pics ! corny idea…
plus rae doesn’t play the gangster role outside his albums
before that C.O. story, ross played this role.
that’s just the different. but i like this maybach music too
ps: u prefere talib, mos & common for the consciousness. okay
but raekwon is about lyrics too
a storyteller, fake stories to true lyricism
ok i see where you all are coming from. after all i like slick rick lol.
just wanted a simple answer to a simple ques thats all.
i havent been around hiphop as long as most of you
I’m a hardcore fan and student of the hip-hop culture, and music in general…I think cpeeze raised a valid question.
Raekwon never says “this is just entertainment, I’m not really into this sh!t it’s just something I do for the videos”….he’s peddling his image. And if you think he’s playing the role of an actor as opposed to living out his fantasies, you’re fooling yourself.
Somebody paid Christian Bale to be Batman. He read the script, liked it and picked up the role…he’s an ACTOR. Big difference between that and an MC, where the culture demands that you be authentic or get the fuck out.
Raekwon is a storyteller….I love the dude. But that don’t mean there aint a measure of image peddling goin on in his music.
rae isnt a commercial dude and is allways in the streets, hes real, and he raps about real shit, unlike a lot of other artist thats why hes praised, thats why we love him
Rae transends ur typical crime rap shit in this song:
“Long chain hatchet flooded up, you knew that…
Baby blue mack, stones on the nozzle ‘Stay Bulletproof’
Brothels with the jew bitches, all I got is two cracks”
Best rap song i’ve heard in many years
