I’m a sucker for anything that reads “featuring Jazmine Sullivan.” She had Ace Hood feeling like a “Champion.” Jadakiss channeled one of his better records on his last LP thanks to Jaz. And she got Snoop to go an entire song without cursing. Quite the feat, indeed. Per the request of “The Queen“, Sullivan rides shotgun as the two discuss a topic which has essentially formed their entire respective careers, hardship, on “Gonna Make It.”

As happy as I am for Mary to be completely happy with her personal life, truth is, the pain which defined the her earlier compositions ranks as my favorite from her. Sullivan starts the record with her account of sticking through a rough relationship with Mary following soon after. The two sound comfortable trading vocals back and forth over this fast-paced inspirational instrumental. Why it doesn’t appear on Mary’s Stronger With Each Tear, is unknown to me.

In a sense, I guess you could say this is the female equivalent to Jada and Styles motivational anthem from yesteryear.
