LeBron, I like you (||). You’re a freak with a legitimate chance to become the best NBA player ever (yes, better than Jordan.) You seem like a good enough guy who shows love for his hometown and who gets along well with his teammates. And I love watching you play basketball.
But you’re prone to moments of doucebaggery, mostly stemming from too much image control or immaturity. The latest example is your declaration that you’re “50-50″ on participating in the 2010 dunk contest, which you promised you’d do last year.
“I’m like 50-50 right now,” he said Wednesday night before a game against Phoenix. “I don’t know if you can get it back to the 80′s and like in ’98 when Vince [Carter] was in it. It was more about the dunks and less about what was going on around the dunks. We’ll see what happens.”
When you made the statement that you would participate, every NBA fan, hardcore or casual, immediately circled the calendar date. Who wouldn’t want to see what the league’s greatest athlete could pull off? Personally I was hoping for the 360 flip dunk NBA Jam style. And it was something the league definitely needed; no disrespect to Nate Robinson but he’s not exactly ‘Nique or MJ.
Now, you’re hedging your bets. Why? Who knows. Maybe you want to create a little more buzz for the event and this is all a ploy. Or maybe you’re a little scared of the spotlight, knowing that you can’t really offer up anything that’s never been done. That you can’t possibly meet expectations.
Whichever it is, stop the chicanery. Keep your word, do your best and blow people’s minds. It’s what champions do. And that’s what you claim to be, right?”

um…you mean to tell me some of yall actually believed that garbage he was talking last year? That shit was no different from getting drunk, going to the club and saying “imatryan’ fuck all these hoes tonight”
Dude was excited and being the competitor he is…just wanted some attention. Plus we all know dudes stop getting in the slam dunk contest after championships become the priority…skills challenge it is!
(To the title of this post) THATS WHAT SHE SAID (I had to)
Dude has way more to lose then he has to gain.
That being said, Prince James needs to man the eff up.

ALL HAIL KING JAMES!!!!
In all seriousness, he better get in this contest. I just had to submit a press kit today for my Sports PR class and it focused on LeBron and his involvement in the dunk contest and how Apple could sponsor it.
Look at the bright side though, there’s still a 50% chance he might do it.
Bron-Bron, Ron-Ron, Ri-Ri, Boo-Boo

with a title like that and in the picture he looks a lil funny a pause might be in order but that’s just me…
why do i feel like hes gonna be known as a choke artist and as the greatest without a ring. i feel it setting up, the dan marino of basketball
I didn’t think he’d do it when he originally announced it…He’s considered the best dunker. But if he loses, that’s in question. Though, D Howard lost to an oompa loompa last year and his image is quite ok
LeBron James is the worst all-star dunker in the league.
‘Bron isn’t a champ or king…
Great athlete. I finally bought into the hype when he destroyed the Pistons in ’07, but it’s time for that next step…
’98 when Vince Carter was in it…

Another episode of LBJ failing his-to-ry.
Vince was in the Dunk Contest back in ’00. One time show.
LBJ’s dunks are subpar unless there is someone underneath the basket getting postered. The dunk contest is played out.
