Fans and enthusiasts can now rejoice and breathe a sigh of relief. Allen Iverson has returned to the “City of Brotherly Love.” The news that had plenty of supporters in a tizzy, is now a mere afterthought as he’s set to give his first NBA team a boost in their roster. No surprises here. Did anyone really believe the league would let a capable marquee player sit out without a bigger probable cause than a cry for attention? Who does he look like? Latrell Sprewell?
Iverson, his agent and business manager met with team president Ed Stefanski, coach Eddie Jordan and two other members of the organization Monday to talk about returning. He was offered a one-year, non-guaranteed contract Tuesday, according to a person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the talks were private.
“We had, at times, a rocky road with Allen Iverson, but we also had a fantastic run with Allen,” Peter Luukko, COO of Comcast-Spectacor, which owns the 76ers and Flyers, told The Associated Press. “The expectations with Allen have changed dramatically. We’re not looking for Allen to individually lead this team the way he has in the past.”
After the ticker-tape parades and jersey sellout fiasco’s, it needs to be down to business for the befuddled 76ers. What good could come out of this? The hopeful say the situation is a win-win for both parties. AI gets to keep his assprint off the chair cushions while the Sixers can look to compete (with some) of the teams in the Eastern Conference. All eyes will be on Iverson as he’s expected to suit up next Monday against who else?

But regardless of the outcome, he’s back. Him and the boy Jay got more in common than just ballin’ and rhyming. Get it…ahhh nevermind.

I’m sure there’s some merit to that statement, but I honestly don’t know what it means. Never followed the situation. Did they give him more money, options? Or, just more facetime? Cause if it’s facetime, then it’s because he had the talent/position to be the face of the NFL still. The same cannot be said for Ivo…..wait, check that…. technically he WILL be the face of the 76s, even tho he’s not their best player….but never the NBA.

He gets in front of the camera and says “I’ll do whatever the coach wants…I just want to help the team” All that means is “I’m going to do what I want to do”. He has never, ever displayed any type of leadership skills what so ever! He may get to the Hall of Fame, but why does he deserve to be there???? Dude single-handedly destroyed the team element of basketball and has refused to act the part of a “professional” since the day he arrived in the league. @clean house productions…your right, the 76′ers suck and he will be the team. That’s the only situation that he can ever play in. “Pound for pound” is media terminology and doesn’t have anything to do with making the team better. A.I. have never been able to co-exist with any other good players and thus has been a “soloist” his whole NBA career. Incredible athlete, not so much as a professional basketball player. I’ve seen him play in person a few times and have been blown away by what he can do, it is however always about what “he” can do never what the “team” can do though. Anyway, John Thompson saved his life and that’s much more important than basketball will ever be.
