I can’t stand when rappers let the beat ride out for anything over 30-40 seconds. You’re a rapper, rap over it or get on with the next song. But when real musicians do it, everyone is better for it. War is one of those groups and “The World Is A Ghetto” is a great example of this.
Clocking in a little over 10 minutes, it just sounds like at certain points they just kept went with the flow and forgot they were even supposed to be singing. Thrown in the harmonizing, words that still ring true today & Charles Miller zoning out on the sax you can’t go wrong. Growing up this was one those Saturday/Sunday staples, that was heard blaring throughout the house while cleaning and sports were the days agenda.

Attitudes like that keep the art we all love down.

I thought that was Fred “Re Run” Berry with a leather on lol.
I’d rather hear & band than a beat ride out for an extended time while a rapper polishes his chain. No offense Deen since (if I recall correctly) that’s what you do. Real muscians prob wasn’t the right phrase, but I stand by what I said. I’m putting that on the rapper, not the producer
we need a feature on this song, i brought it up to my dad tonight, and he told me he gigged on guitar with this band years ago, but this song is beautiful funk….enjoy.

No offense taken.
And BTW, I am not one of the Trackmasters and I don’t make beats either. I ran out of gas on that gimmick.
ohhh this song was sampled on M.O.P’s foundation cd, real funky
Can hear some elements of Geto Boys’ “The World Is A Ghetto”. Now THAT’S how I wish more acts would “sample”. They didn’t just jack the beat; they took inspiration from a small part and expanded it into its own unique hip-hop joint (AND did the original justice).
And I kinda hear what you’re saying. But, I say beats like 90s Dangerous Crew (Too $hort), Organized Noise, whoever produced 8Ball & MJG’s first three albums, Jazzy Jeff, Jay Dee, etc, should be able to ride out as much as they damn well please.
