In all honesty, Sandman had never really caught my ear outside of his work with the Re-Up Gang, but his latest track to hit the net, “Just A MC,” is tough. The drum pattern grabs the listener’s ear immediately with a rambunctious combination of punchy kicks and dry snares that the Philly MC proceeds to ravage through like a speedboat in a creek. All the while the beat drops in and out a few bells & whistles along with an ill vocal sample that inspires the title of the song.
Supposedly, the former Clipse-affiliate was dropping this along with the rest of his street album on October 30th, but Heart Of The City has yet to see the light of day.
