Notable Quotable – Pusha T On “Speak Of Freedom”
AUDIO By Gotty™ on November 29, 2009 at 11:02 pm“With every line written, and all I have given
Music’s been nothing more than a self-made prison
I’ve taken inmate loses at the hands of this one
My pen’s the poison to family and friendships
Now it’s time to mend shit
Time to bring closure to
The clear conscience of Pusha is long overdue
Thinking to myself what I can be owing you?
They only tell you you great when they reminiscing over you
Before I Trouble T-Roy, it’s just a d-boy
Let me play the role of a Common on his b-boy
Speaking my truth in rhyme, no matter how bland it is
A heavy heart lightened, that’s just what my ransom is
All apologies, I bear the cross, I wear the blame
We in the same group but I don’t share my brother’s pain
Not to confuse, I was sentimental all the same
I just don’t feel nothin’, I’m numb by the will to gain.
Same thing brought tears to innocents,
I turned away and didn’t even flinch, eghck!
The music drove me crazy,
looked up and lost the first bitch I ever wanted to have my babies
Nowadays she can’t even face me
I’m sorry for the heartbreak, I promised you forever my lady, Jodeci baby
Pompous motherfucker just look what them Jews made me
I’m only findin’ comfort in knowing you can’t replace me
What a thing to say, but what am I to do
I’m role-playing a conscious nigga and true is true
Cocaine aside, all the bloggers behoove
My critics finally have a verse of mine to jerkoff to.”
Pusha T on “Speak Of Freedom” off the album Til The Casket Drops.
Over ominous guitars courtesy of Sean C & LV, Pusha T opens the latest Clipse album by purging himself of the excess baggage that comes from multiple tours of duty in the field in the rap. The spectrum’s opposite ends consists of those who sing with glee regarding with glamor and others who denounce it, but both extremes end up turning away listeners. Pusha connects, striking a balance by being frank, sharp and vivid.

Crack Rap? No.
Rhymes so dope they’re like lines of coke…so damn potent.
Lyricism like this is what sets The Clipse so far apart from most of these other clowns
I still favor Malice though, lol
Malice’s verse was strong, but coming out the gate w/such a poignant verse? I had to give Pusha the praise he requested lol.
On this song, Pusha gets the win.
Overall, I favor the older dude, lol. There’s subtle differences between them two, and I think age has to do with it. Fuck it, I’m biased, lol
All y’all: go cop this shit when it drops next week
so sick!!
Album Of The 4th Quarter

And I always thought Pusha was the better rapper but Malice has come into his own (pause) on this album and more times then not, his verses steal the spotlight.
Pusha kilt that verse though.
^ how you change avys so quick? lol, them shits are mad funny
I’m so glad you did this lol. I dont even know where to begin with this verse, the whole thing is amazing. Clipse are at the top of their craft.
For right now this sticks out to me a lot
“We in the same group but I don’t feel my brother’s pain

^Two email accounts.
I get bored easily lol.

It helps explain how the divide between the two thematically has grown since HHNF. Sorta like Pusha’s mission statement for this album.
I can’t believe I’m actually anticipating a Malice solo album lol. Whoda thunk it?
Early.
This sets the leak off so crazy. Drake wishes he could be this disgusted with life.
wow the rhymes i always knew these dudes had in em…..poetry in motion right there.
Amp = best gravies on the site lol. Seriously.

LOL I try.
I figure if my comment bombs I can at least give y’all something to look at lol.
I started transcribing these lyrics today, but didn’t finish. Thanks Gotty! Both verses were good…of course Pusha T kills it. They aren’t all about “coke rap.”
Good work.
Side note….this album received mad praise on twitter last night! We’ll see 12/16 when them numbers come out. SH anyone?

Yup. Then in the same song Malice goes on to say “Am I my brothers keeper? For himself every man.”
I think it’s real tight how they speak on it through the music.
I’ll be buying a copy. That’s my word.

I was late but I ended up supporting SH. I’m at Best Buy on the 8th for Till The Casket Drops. It’s only right.
This song has gotten so many spins from me already. TC kept asking how this song kept coming on whenever we got in the whip last night. For the verses to be so poignant and the bass to knock so tough, it’s not even fair.
They really need to an album full of tracks like that.
I just barely listened to the full album cus of this track.
Hold up, Pusha was the dude with the braids? This whole time I thought he had a shaved head…lmao
Damn, all these leaks are tempting, but I cannot listen. Gotta make sure the album sounds fresh.

…………………………
Rewound this shit about 6-7 times when I first heard it.
Audio dope. Nuff said.
Damn them Thornton boys can spit…
Clipse may just have come through with the album of the year after all….even the leaks I wasn’t really feelin (I’m Good, Eyes on me) sound right in the sequencing… shit’s tuff
After listening to it three times tonight, it’s my AOTY.
I’ve only listened once but I wasn’t impressed as I thought I’d be. Maybe I set the bar too high. Then again, it took me a few listens to really dig Hell Hath No Fury.
Definitely not (my) album of the year though. That goes to Diamond District.
owwwwww!
Wow..
Holy shit that is beautiful, beautiful poetry. Funny because Clipse hate Wayne, and Wayne claims he hates poetry. Hopefully Pusha can explain these things to Wayne when he’s older.
Brilliant verse/song, this album definitely has its share of strong wordplay.
Damn… That’s the first time T gave me chills. I feel it.
