The NFL Star & The Skid Row Kid
Everything Else By Gotty™ on November 27, 2009 at 10:22 am“Just keep your head up & you see all the good things.”
Too often, the good that athletes do is overlooked. Whether it be for a tax write-off or for genuine good, any act that involves you taking what you have and sharing with others is respectable.
The Skinny
– NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha decides to help homeless teen after CNN report.
– Kenneth Chancey, 17, lived in homeless shelter, yet made all A’s and is class president.
– Asomugha will take Chancey and 19 other inner-city kids on college tour in spring.
Given Kenneth Chancey’s drive, he appears to be a kid who would make it whether he received the benefits of an assist or not. But with the help of Oakland Raider Nnamdi Asomugha, Chancey’s path may have gotten a little clearer.
Respect to the Packers’ Charles Woodson as well, who donated $2 million to the new University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital.

Good story, but am I the only one that thinks the kids is a little……..sweet?
A great story, to presevre against all those obstacles is amazing. There are probably more kids like Kenneth out there. Hopefully their story gets told as well.
Dammit Ghost
Why can’t he just be a student-athlete/class president who just happens to speak with a slight lisp and a very light voice……
Dammit you maybe right but I won’t agree with you on principle. lol
About the only thing the Raiders have done right this year.
hes the nicest hobo ive ever seen
Great story. Too bad this won’t get much more pub than this. Don’t worry, as soon as the next athlete gets pulled over with a blunt and an open bottle of liquor, it’ll be all over the news.
Brother of Kappa Alpha Psi doing it….thas whassup
#21 is one of the few bright spots for my team these days. And the way the mainstream media focus on athletes’ alleged crimes and ignore things like this is straight bullshit (not to mention racist). Last year I had a letter to the Boston Phoenix published that complained about its weekly column about (mostly) black athletes’ legal troubles.
I can’t wait until the Oregon Ducks shit on the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl. Make Pryor regret his decision going to the wrong school.
yup, front page new if he beat up a homeless kid and gave him money to keep it quiet.
