I Told You Marcus Jordan Would Not Be Wearing No Stinkin’ Adidas
GENERAL By Gotty™ on November 4, 2009 at 11:04 pmBecause I am a soothsayer, I told you this in advance. Now, according to ESPN, young Marcus Jordan will be wearing J’s when he suits up for the University of Central Florida Golden Knights.
“The University of Central Florida has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to adidas,” adidas spokeswoman Andrea Corso wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “As a result we have chosen not to continue our relationship with them moving forward.”
Of course, that’s a nearly two million dollar deal down the drain for the school. But, as stated before, everybody had to be cognizant of the circumstances when Jordan’s kid signed on to play. What son would disappoint their dad like that, especially if their dad was one of the greatest to ever lace up a pair of sneakers…and subsequently have his own brand of sneakers?
So, hey adidas…

Now, you know Central Florida wants some of that Jordan money pretty soon.
Booo @ adidas sounding like a scored bitch that got stood up… Adidas you knew what it was as soon as Baby Jordan committed.. You think Jordan ain’t bout to lace the team now?
*applauding* Baby Jordan for stickin’ w/ his laurels!
This situation makes me shake my head in disbelief.
@ Sam
I kind of feel the same way for some reason…
Have from the first mention.
Why shake your head?
Micah made it pretty plain.
Fall & the sword now, Nike, Phil & Jordan Brand lace the school later.
Umm… is it me or does he have adidas ankle braces?
Personally, I am SMH because it made no sense from the jump.
“The University of Central Florida has chosen not to deliver on their contractual commitment to adidas.”
Did they really believe they would?
i dont like this cause i dont think jordans gonna replace that 2 mil and its a dumb move to ruin ur sponsorships for some b rate player even if he is the sperm of mike
@ the real anonymous
um, why wouldnt they believe the contract would be upheld? that is the purpose of contracts. ucf blew it, and adidas doesnt need that miniscule contract from a non-top tier athletic school. so, peace out ucf.
I bet Under Armour will sponsor UCF and allow “Baby Jordan” to rock his pops’shoes.
@ Ross
In a perfect world (©Keri Hilson) they would have. Yet in this situation?
I think not.
Even the response from Adidas (they simply conceded without a fight) shows that they knew what was coming. Because were it any other situation (i.e. not Jordan’s son)… what would they have immediately done?
That is right, they would have sued to enforce the contract.
Yet they did not.
They knew it was a lost cause from the onset.
P.S.
Take away the fact that he is MJ’s son - look at what kids his age see in sports (with regards to contracts specifically) on an almost daily basis…
Athletes not living up to their contractual obligations.
A signature does not mean a thing anymore.
[Let me type that again... a signature does not mean a thing anymore]
So throw MJ into the mix PLUS his Nike affiliation…
And Adidas lost the war before it even started.
Then wtf is he doing with adidas braces on? Compromise?
He probably wore that before they dropped out. Hence the reason why he wore the Rising Sun XII’s.
I’m sure Jordan will do the school right and provide more than the 2 million… it’ll be a tax write off
Well he did say that he would wear the adidas gear and that the only thing he would not would be the shoes, hence the adidas ankle braces.
Agreed on everything TRA said. when this kid was recruited, it wouldn’t shock me if a deal was set in place as well.
Replacing Adidas would be a drop in the bucket for JB. Sure the school isn’t prestigious as the other schools on their roster but the family ties make it worth their while.
He’s not that good to even have a seat at the negotiating table…..if he was he wouldn’t be going to Central Florida. Think Dean or Coack K would have allowed this…even with all the talent that came thru there????
Marcus sure has inherited his fathers ego…..young man, just get your head out your ass and learn to be a team player….the shoes ain’t never gonna make you play better…..I wonder what your team mates think of you now…..I reckon the coach should just keep hiim on the bench… stuck up little f@#k…..
*ditto*…..Shoes won’t make you a better player. Pay homage to you dad by becoming the best player of your era.
