baatin

If there was ever a self-explanatory song title, “Baatin (Missin’ U…)” says everything one needs to know before the first line is spoken.  But since knowing is only half the battle, Jack’s back and he’s taking a moment to pay respect to one of  his fallen comrades.  Unleashing heartfelt lyrics over piano chops and a beat that builds into something quite epic, he more than ably holds things down, looking back on his humble beginnings and his relationship with the recently deceased Detroit MC.

“When I lost my hope and I could not do it/It was you, Baatin, that got me through it/And you told me if I fight for love they gon’ fight this/Teardrops on the paper as I write this.”

And just like the life he chose to speak upon, the song’s over before it even gets started. But it was sweet while it lasted.

MPC or mic, Mr. Splash is a problem. Prepare yourselves.
