“That ‘Us Placers’ record was tough.”–Elliott Wilson
As the Hip-Hop world impatiently awaits for Lupe’s Thanksgiving Day offering, I can’t help but think what CRS could have become. Standing for The Child (Lupe), The Rebel (Kanye) and The Soldier (Pharrell), this trio of MC’s from Chi-Town and Virginia Beach were a gold mine waiting to happen. At least, that’s what I thought.
With no disrespect whatsoever to another lyrical supergroup, these three had what those others don’t — star power. If “Us Placers” and the remix of “Everybody Nose” were any indication, CRS would have had no problem whatsoever gaining mainstream notoriety while maintaining their underground “love.” Of course, this is all worthless now, but the possibilities could have been endless. Hell, placing Lupe over Kanye and Pharrell productions is enough to make any music lover pass out from excitement.
Maybe I’m jumping the gun, maybe I’m not. But I do know there was quality music yet to be made from this 312/757 connection. Seeing as how an album is 99.992% out of the equation (label politics, schedules, etc.), let’s just hope that somewhere in the future (hopefully sooner than later or never) a .zip file is made available with recordings from yesteryear.
Until then, I have to live with the fact I fell for the biggest bait of all time.

Listen — N*E*R*D Feat. Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco & Pusha T – “Everybody Nose” (Remix)

shit… they woulda been on top of the game as a group, them and slaughterhouse would’ve ran shit for possibly the next decade
I don’t think you can compare CRS to Slaughterhouse.
Slaughterhouse has the appeal of deep hip hop heads. CRS had the potential to appeal to Tupperware salesman and drunken sorority girls.
CRS was easily my most anticipated project that never came to fruition. Even more so than Detox.
Meaning, that you have an idea of what would be on Detox and what it would be about. But CRS, man, although very similar to each other, you really do not have an idea of which direction this project would have went. It would’ve kept you guessing as far as flow styles, beats, content. And if it had any features. Like, if it happened now, chances are that you would have a Kid Cudi or Wale, or Common or J.Cole or Big Sean feature. Or a slew of even more established artists.
Oh, what SHOULD have been….
There are 6 unheard songs from the three. Label politics and what not didn’t hold them back from that. An album? Nah probably not, but I do believe we will hear stuff from them soon.
Shit I had forgot all about the CRS stuff….whatever happend to it? They just decide not to do it or what?
you dont know how long i waited
for this to come to fruition
All I know is “US Placers” just went back onto my “Older Tracks” playlist & I may even throw Kanye’s mixtape on there too.
center edge territory or CRS?
CRS would’ve fucking dominated
Slaughterhouse is just a footnote in hip-hop, if that.
Hot off the presses……

common ft john legend – strange fruit (prod kanye west)
finding forever’s leftover
I think we will eventually hear Detox unlike CRS or center edge theory…
@ mosdef (ironic)
definitely C.E.T.
CRS would have been crazy due to Kanye production, P’s songwriting, and Lupe’s lyrical GENIUS but Center Edge Territory has three lyrical HEAVYWEIGHTS. They got Ali Frazier and Foreman. Plus they ALL pick the illest beats so they would have no problem and be the more superior supergroup. I don’t know actually..Lupe MIGHT be able to take ‘em all……
lupe fiasco is a laser !
CRS had the potential to appeal to Tupperware salesman and drunken sorority girls.

Well call me a wasted Delta Gamma and hand me a Rubbermaid.
Anything with Thom York basically gets the insta-stamp of approval from me anyhow. Would have loved to see a fleshed-out project from Kanye, P and Lupe. I bet the live show would have been crazy too, given their track records. I mean God Bless the mighty men of Slaughterhouse… they’re all incredible rappers. But I’ve seen Royce a couple too many times to know I don’t like shows where there’s more dudes in an entourage on stage than actual performers. I never went to a Slaughterhouse show, but I imagine it’s something like more people behind the four emcees than actually in front of them. And the sausage-fest ratio is probably about 15:1.
I always loved “Us Placers”… thanks for reminding me, J.
As long as Random Axe eventually drops nothing else matters…
I wasn’t waiting on it at all. Everybody’s Nose was dope but Us Placers did nothing for me but ey….
I’m not even checking for Lupe anymore. I pass
you forgot fucced up.
Love this song… still to this day.
i was thinking the same thing…i feel you on that one..crs woulda been the dopest thing in a while
love like it
love like it more
love like most
