Let’s Be Honest, Who Didn’t See This Coming?
GENERAL By MZ on November 11, 2009 at 9:06 pm
First off take a long, hard (II) look at the picture above.
Notice the date? Friday the 13th, as in four days prior to Before I Self Destruct hitting store shelves and about 400 days since the first stalled it’s original single “Get Up” surfaced. I was wondering what 50 had up his sleeves to add a little buzz to his release. Lord knows a building single, decent album & accompanying movie aren’t enough for Boo Boo. He used little brother last time, so big brother is only the natural progression.
Seeing as how he’s been playing chess ever since GRODT, I wonder how long he’s been building up this all out assault on Jay-Z? I mean what other business would him and Beanie Sigel have to talk about on a song? Countless videos have been floating around the net about how 50’s wanted to sign Beanie to G-Unit for a few years, but Jigga’s pride wouldn’t let that happen. It would also go a long way as to explaining why Beanie felt compelled to go at Jay seemingly out of the blue. Bean’s may see it as initiation into G-Unit, but 50’s been waiting to go all out at Hov for a minute & Sigel’s situation* is the perfect springboard for that.
As well as a great way to bring some attention to Before I Self Destruct. Think about it, 50 needs to make his albums into an event because the music isn’t strong enough to pull people in on it’s on. Not that the music isn’t quality, but the persona of 50 Cent surpasses the music at this point. His interviews, assaults on lesser rappers, movies & insights on the music industry keep people entertained & him continually in the public eye. The music is secondary at this point. I think if he kept all the extra curricular activities goings and didn’t put any more music out most people would be none the wiser.
TC summed it up with this gem the other day: “I don’t think anyone of you care if this gets a 1 or a 5 lol.”
A telltale sign that he’s reached retirement age in rapper years.
*Of cousrse I could be wrong and “I Go Off” was just made for the sake of making great music.

just when i was all ready to support curtis’ new album,(that i’ve had for weeks now), he has to do unnecessary “beef-promotion” again. let it go curtis. and as far as beans goes, you better pray that you’re not g-unit’s newest hope turned forgotten or prey.
ex. m.o.p.,mobb deep,olivia,young buck,game,mase,spider loc,mazaradi fox,40 glocc, nyce,hot rod and slim da mobster
It’s hard out here for a pimp and the simps.
What is crazy is how Beans turned once 50 got involved (like 50 has it like that any longer).
I would hope Beans could, at the very least, realize that 50 is using him and nothing more.
But hey, I guess the thought of a little bit of that money (coming from 50’s pocket) you think Jay OWES you is enough to turn from talking cool to reckless in less than three interviews.
lol @ “all out assault” on jigga..yall be on some bullshit.
ether was an all out assult, just cause fif is working with beans now hes “assulting” him…
while the TSS squad continues the hate campaign on fifty its core posters continue to support him or at least try to be unobjective about his music…thats a conflict of interests if i ever heard of one.
…let me stop before im told to kick rocks.
Bad move for Beans. He’s putting his name/career on the line to help promote 50s album.
i agree with beware.
in 2009/2010, mr.grant is a 89% irrelevant rapper. if fif sells even half of the massacre’s numbers, does any think he’s gonna use some of that to assist beanies resurrection? or is he gonna show him an outline and say, go out there and get it going under your own power? doesn’t THAT sound familiar?
a quote from the blog yall pulled an article from..
“as far as being the king of rap and “credible rap artist” this is it for Jay. If he chooses to let Curtis’ taunts go with no retort we can hang up the idea that Hov is the King. No King in history has let another man of power question his own power…..in his own kingdom. niggas were beheaded for less. But judging off those Robin Thicke studio session pictures I think we lost him.”
Beans is turning into J Hood right before our eyes. lol
@ Petey
This is not directed towards you personally but whoever wrote the above does not know history very well.
Many (I mean many) kings chose to ignore others if they posed no real threat.
Honestly?
No matter what you think about the Beans/Jay situation, this is a win for fans of rap music. If Beans puts out great material, inspired by Jay’s alleged betrayal and 50’s rabble rousing, its still great material.
I just want more music. Curtis’ album ain’t bad neither…
Man Petey you sure our sore here recently man. what’s wrong?
Nobody here claims to be all that objective. I don’t really enjoy 50 all that much. Truth be told, TC is about the only one who sings his praises. But I’ll give credit where it’s due, just as quick as I’ll talk shit. 50’s done good, coming from the ground up and making decent music, smart business moves, being an influencer etc.
But right now, his music is weak and his attempts to gain attention are even weaker…in my opinion. What he’s adding to the game right now is minimal. I don’t even think he can lyrically challenge Jay. Probably only could in his early days. Now Wayne…after listening to that dude rip thru a few Jay tracks on No Ceilings…whew. Just my opinion.
Now, if you don’t like it, kick rocks lol.
Sorry, but hearing you complain every other post about “the man” putting his foot on your neck is boring me. You’re taking up for someone who was a disruption. Speaking your mind is one thing. Being an ass for the sake of being an ass is diff. Even more, you don’t know the full story. Wasn’t buddy’s first time, as he & I spoke privately.
im not sure i guess its objective as far as what you consider a real threat.
i dont think fif could do anything to shake him from his plateau
but if all these niggas keep making lil chinks in his armor how long until hip hop as a hole just kind of stops fucking with jay the way they started not fucking with fif before he brought it back home? hes gonna have to keep making them NY records and anthems and shit because his core fan base aint really feeling him like that.
jay outgrew his fanbase…alot of the people who supported jay through his hustling/gangster posturing phase are still in the streets hustling or working blue collar jobs barely making ends meet etc. and dont relate to jay talking about being at glamorous boxing matches and corporate takeovers etc they wanna hear some shit that relates to their struggle which to me explains fifs re emergence.
“Think about it, 50 needs to make his albums into an event because the music isn’t strong enough to pull people in on it’s on.”
^This.
gotty,
it aint like that fam i just dont get the fifty hate…and i kind of hate that im looking like his fanboy right now i just always respected his impact and catalogue, yeah fif did do some bullshit to the game of hip hop as a whole but who didnt? aftermath/interscope as a whole kind of took a huge shit on hip hop..def jam has done there fair share of damage to hip hop etc etc…
fif aint the only person but at least he shows some level of consciousness about it, I thought it was big of him to do that concert bringing alot of rappers together etc…
and i think the majority of people think his music is better than its been since the massacre days and that says alot he just snagged #1 spot on I tunes i read and thje majority of feedback from other sites tells me that its his content thats selling not the hype surrounding it.
I think yall be reading differet sites than I do and must travel in WAYYYYYY different circles, how can yall not see how fif is making a comeback (like he ever left lol) when the album drops i guess we will se whats really good.
@ Petey
Point taken.
But is not 50’s reemergence false in the same sense then?
Is he not living the Jay life as well and just spitting fictional rhymes at this point?
And I believe (I hope) that Jay is intelligent enough to realize when those chinks in the armor are posing a threat of reaching actual skin. That is when you go hard (II) and acknowledge the attacks.
Until then… you conserve your energy until that day comes (and it is really needed).
Responding to every diss that comes your way wears you out.
Better to ignore the things that cannot harm you.
Personally, I still bump Jay’s albums.
On the opposite end, I have not really felt 50 (II again) since his Tone & Poke days and Get Rich. He was hungry and he REALLY WAS going to get rich… or die trying.
Since then…
Enh.
(”Just a Lil Bit” - I was like, “What the f is this?” For real.)
while the TSS squad continues the hate campaign on fifty its core posters continue to support him or at least try to be unobjective about his music…thats a conflict of interests if i ever heard of one.
=====================
This isn’t hate, it’s my opinion. I still say T.O.S. was one of the better releases from last year and I’ve thrown positive light on 50 when I feel he deserves it. So I’m not being unobjective & it’s not a conflict of interest. It’s a difference in opinion.
I also said this as well:
*Of cousrse I could be wrong and “I Go Off” was just made for the sake of making great music.
Just call it like I see it.
Man… I love a good conversation like this!
I haven’t read a good word about 50 Cent or his music on ANY blog in a long minute. But that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying most of his music post TOS. I liked the War Angel LP, didn’t like Forever King and I plan to buy the album. My first 50 Cent purchase.
That said, I can understand why others don’t fuck with the music anymore. Its the same reason why I haven’t really listened to Kanye post Graduation. Image and marketing.
Ultimately, I think I just can’t live without aggressive content (C) Curtis and in this climate, I’m more than happy to listen to his music and watch him take shots at all these boring/hungry rappers.
grodt is one of the flyest shits ever and thats what fucked his chances up he can never follow up on a heatrock
fifs interviews and viral vids are entertaining his music as of late has been sub par 4ex elephant in the s had three trax worth listening to
that other shit with the ok ok ok song forgot name sorry had 2 on there if theres anything else out there more recent i dont care
call me a hater for hating basura not to say he cant ( with time out, focus on making good music and no gimmicks ) make a comeback
Aw Beans - has it really come to this tired soap opera shit? Prostituting what remains of your career to help promote someone else’s album - it’s funny what some people’ll do for a little bit of money.
That’s the difference between Jay and these other rappers - rap is all they have…
and as far as 50s appeal goes - he was always about thug posturing rather than actual skills, where as Jay was always about image but had the skills to back it all up.
Is he not living the Jay life as well and just spitting fictional rhymes at this point?
========================
Same thing I say each time the shit comes up but they will not, do not acknowledge it lol. Until they do, I’ll maintain my stance. I’m not anti-50 or pro-Jay. I’m anti-”get that ignorant shit the fuck out of here and do something different dog. it was okay once, maybe twice. now it’s old.”
every empire that has ever became of hip hop took more out if it than it put in…
the g unit movement was no different…but I can say there was a minute ealry in this decade where i felt like fifty was carrying this rap game…
jay was singing his praises and doing photo ops and commercials with him every chance he got, every rapper had a “in the club” knock off track…then a 20 questions knock off track…etc etc.
but gotty lets be real more people can relate to trying to re up than a hostile corperate takeover.
and I know on the low you like gucci as much as I do…I think you actually hipped me to a bunch of his shit. there is a time and place for the ignorant shit…can we both agree on that?
hard shit is what got fif put on why would he alienate his core fan base?
a wise man posted here once “all rap is not meant to be heard through your computer speakers.”
“every rapper had a “in the club” knock off track…then a 20 questions knock off track”
that just it fam both them songs was on grodt so many bit his winning strategy on it that they made the shit corny and he aint recovered since i havent heard the leak of bisd cuz im curious to hear a final maybe this will be the album to shift the momentum
50 is making lullabies & fairytales dog.
I ain’t buying.
He’s not pushing his sound, not flipping his style. Nothing. He’s just doing the same old shit. If he wasn’t tricking people into thinking he was relevant, he’d do M.O.P. numbers lol.
The only thing we can agree on is to disagree lol. I literally HAVE to work w/TC and we’ve argued 50 forever. My stance won’t change any time soon. When he does something noteworthy, I’ll listen and respect it. Again, as I mentioned the other day, I like Forever King. Otherwise though, I’m straight w/his recent efforts.
all Im trying to say is im all good on a whole CD of “I get money” fif.
I dont be looking for leadership and guidance from rappers nor do I look for qualities in them i admire or relate to all the time, I look at rappers the way I looked at Eazy E and Slick Rick, too short etc. they are story tellers and the way they choose to use the pen is on them it still art.
…unless its some soulja boy type shit i can see the beauty in almost all hip hop
So Jay gets a pass for the “Rich Camel Shit”, while Fif gets held to a different standard because he likes guns?
Coming from a person who purchased both GRODT and The Massacre, 50’s music has been lacking for a long while now. Sure, he’s show flashes of his past dominance (Forever King was pretty crazy), but for the most part his antics overshadow everything else nowadays.
50 will always be one of the most dominant personalities in rap, but he’s never really matured musically. He’s one of the richest names in hip-hop still speaking on stuff he was preaching on “Guess Who’s Back.” Don’t get me wrong, I like hearing it every once in awhile, but if you wanna talk being relatable, 50 damn sure ain’t killing no one or selling drugs anymore.
BISD wasn’t a bad album, but then again it wasn’t breathtaking. He’s got his records where he shines, no doubt. But the interest in his music isn’t what it once was because his fans have grown somewhat…his music hasn’t.
I don’t even know what to say but y’all are off with this one. Fif is sounding better then he has in a while and BISD is one of the year’s best albums.
And is Jeezy still “Trapping”?
Is Snoop still banging?
50 Cent sells albums not autobiographies (though I’m pretty sure he sold one of those too).
It’s music and in terms of sheer entertainment, I’d rather hear 50 use his past for inspiration then hear Jay-Z’s uninspired boasts about his present day life.
The bar gets set so low for Southern artists that any progression they make is seen as tremendous growth. I think Fif’s growth was somewhat stunted by his early success. He doesn’t reinvent the wheel on BISD but he’s never been a lyricist. What he does bring is an aggressive tone that is missing from mainstream Hip-Hop.
And we haven’t even heard the song to call it a Jay-Z diss.
50 is smarter then that. If it was about that he could have took the Jayceon route and sent a dozen diss tracks at Hov already.
This is chess not checkers.
I have no problem with what 50 or anyone says. There are only so many things you can say & people expect something in the same vein anyway. I’d just like 50 to put as much effort into his music as he does the marketing and promotion of the album.
I think 50 can do better than play around with Beanie(II) and talk about Jay. Talk about your album. But then again, he’s been doing this since “How To Rob.”
god bless you amp.
Gotty,
I mo get Fame and Danz on you for that one. Bang Time!!!
lol!
i’m neutral in this shit ‘cuz i got luv for all parties, but i always chuckle when people refer to 50 like he’s this master chess player. for the vitamin water deal, perhaps. but for the rap beefs?
is it that difficult to see dissension within your enemy’s crew & take advantage? beans don’t like jay now, so 50 sides with beans. jimmy & juelz had issues with cam, so 50 sides with them. tia hates ross, so 50 takes her shoppin.
does that really make 50 sun tzu?
and 50 dissed about jay bein on oprah, but wasn’t 50 on rachel ray not too long ago?
the title of MZ’s post says all you need to know about the *ahem* chess master:
“who didn’t see this coming?”
i bet even jay saw it comin’.
Thank god for hip-hop that still has some balls (ll), and MC’s that still have a little bass in their voice.
Hov’s doing what he’s doing (and what happened to the bass in his voice anyway?), so let 50 do what he’s doing.
Both are capitalists from their own angles, and pimping the game according to their own blueprints (no pun/Pun RIP), so why give more leeway to one and not the other.
Fif has been aiight lately (ll), and with some chicken and beer in me in cutthroat traffic, his music sounds better.
I was bumping Jay’s “Empire” joint the other day with the sunroof open and the shit sounded sweet…
We need both angles in hip-hop, and thank god for both cuz I can only be emo in short doses, and some of the Pet Shop Boys/Hip-hop shit is nauseating.
does that really make 50 sun tzu?
———————————-
LMAO
Fuck 50,Fuck Jigga…..Joe Budden pisses on both of them
and what happened to the bass in his voice anyway?
——————————————-
that was pre black album hova.
“You a bitch, tell Duro put some bass in your voice” - Ali Vegas
50 is smarter then that. If it was about that he could have took the Jayceon route and sent a dozen diss tracks at Hov already.

50 came in the game taking shots @ Jay. He’s always begged for his attention. So…yeah.

50 came in the game taking shots @ Jay.
=======================================
He came in taking shots at everybody.
And Jay has let a few slick lines go as well. Let’s not try and turn this into a Jay-Z/Game situation because it ain’t that.
Jay’s been avoiding the 400Lb. Gorilla in the room forever.
yeh he’s got his marketing shit down for sho
