This week, rapper 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, admitted that he spends $20,000 a week on security at his Farmington, Connecticut, mansion.
“My home is surrounded by cameras. I need surveillance not only to look out for me but also to protect me. You get all these crazy lawsuits, and I need cameras to check on things,” the 33-year-old told the entertainment news service WENN.
Jackson’s security costs work out to a little over $1 million a year.

i dont see whats so hard to believe about that…these things may not be happening to young curt but they are happening all around america in every ghetto street corner. I miss the days when rappers were allowed to use “creative license” I remember when curtis was making the the of songs that reflected his real current life and yall hated….

hes one of the last rappers trying to deliver reality rap in a mainstream capacity, and hes doing it well…what more can you ask from him at this point?

Maybe he should go away for a while. Then I can say “man, the game sure does miss 50 right now.” Maybe get arrested & do a bid. Go to India. Something other than being omnipresent. Right now, it’s the same old song & dance on a fairly consistent basis. It’s not entertaining & he barely sounds enthused, much less believable.
You can’t criticize Jay for not being believable…then come out & rap street shit when you just as rich as Jay. I think that’s always been my problem w/him. He throws stones while living in a glass ass house.
I never thought I’d say this but I have more respect for Fif than Jay in terms of catalog.

Fif is what he is. Very few guys have gotten further with less actual talent in this hiphop game than Fif.
Jay on the otherhand… He might be the AI of this thing. Talent’s exponential but he’s never built and maintained a great team. Scratch that—AI carried Eric Snow and nem to the finals that one year.
But Jay’s always had the ability to do more and be more and so far at age 40, Jay’s become… um… rich. Every album of Jay’s is just another random thread of cashmere thoughts. (nothing nattier than old cashmere.)
What part of the game has Jay really changed beyond getting a bunch of clones to rhyme like him? He’s gotten paid. He’s done real well for himself. I guess he broke Kanye. But who else? What else?
I didn’t expect Jay Guevera to be Bob Marley, but I was hoping for more than a T-shirt. I mean Andre Agassi built a school with his own money and did it back when he didn’t have THAT MUCH to start with. Jay on the otherhand? eh…
Dude’s been more Emmitt Smith than Barry Sanders—he’s got the records, but, well… you know what I mean.
I’m just saying 50’s grown on me over the years. He’s never gonna change the world. I accept Fif’s limitations. But I’m still waiting for Jay to grow up and change something. Anything.
I never expected Scarface or Ice Cube or G Rap to be as badass as they are on CDs so I wont expect it from Jay and 50. I havent even heard BP3 yet and not really rushin to. The reason I like 50 in ‘09 is 50’s music is still close to bein that badass-ness we was all feelin in ‘02.

I agree…no one at this point appreciates his contributions to the game becasue hes been so “in the public eye” I think the only thing he could do to make the people understand at this point is to chill for a min.
