Talking On A Dream…

After I gave Wiz Khalifa a tip of the hat the other day, it’s not surprising he went and set the bar so high by rocking over the one offshoot joint of the year Gotty™ and I’d been waiting for someone to sample all summer; “Walking On A Dream,” Empire Of The Sun’s floaty indie pop ditty that earned the powerpop duo from Down Under national commercials and a spot on Hov’s CD.
Off Khalifa’s upcoming Burn After Rolling mixtape, the not-so-epic “Wiz Khalifa Vs. Empire of the Sun” is a dope track, but not what it could have been. To be honest, the Pittsburgh Steeler sounds like he’s been spinning Man On The Moon a bit much, as his rhyme patterns are “airy…dreamy and shit” – which he plots in song – but don’t really justify the lack of overall structure he could have put fourth, possibly parlaying his more genuine style into another career-making Wale/Justice “WALEDANCE” situation.
Sorry Wiz, I like it. But, I should’ve loved it.

Wiz looks like he isn’t sure whether he should be happy to be in the presence of those ‘chicks’ or not. The more I look in his face, the less I’m sure about the former.

^ Lupe should do anything to get him away from that “emo rap”. The Cool was nowhere near my favorite album. I think he would give this joint a good go though.
From a Wiz Khalifa fan, this is just aiight. I wasn’t a huge fan of the original either though. Go figure.
He has been listening to “Man on the Moon”…I don’t blame him.

The audacity of his publicist (whattup Artie!) to call Flight School a “now classic” mixtape in the press release for THIS track was ridiculous
That tape had more teethmarks from SO FAR GONE that it might as well have been called STILL SO GONE..
He stole cadences, reworded lines and bit entire concepts..
