Two years after it came out I still get goosebumps when André starts his verse for this. And I’m eternally grateful this came out before every Tom, Dick & Harry (||) had the means and gumption to throw a verse on this classic song. But a few things come to mind listening to this:
1. This was a classic video, with great cameos and will probably go down as Juicy & Paul’s last positive contributions to this thing we call Rap.
2. I miss Pimp C.
3. I miss UGK.
4. I miss Outkast.
5. I could listen to the instrumental alone for hours on end.
Let’s do something about #4 Sir Lucious & Three Stacks…you owe it to yourselves and us, the fans.
Download — UGK Feat. Outkast – “International Players Anthem” (CDS)

I was just listening to this on the way to work.
Not to mention…
#4 is important because tomorrow is never promised.
It would warm my heart to see a release date on a new OutKast album. Or Sir Luscious or an Andre rap album (I’ll take what I can get honestly). Does Big Boi have a solid release date yet? I need to get my wikipedia on.
RIP Pimp C.
“like making it rain every month on schedule”
We really need a new OutKast album.

Big Boi & Andre 2010 Outkast
perfect song classic “baby you’ve been rolin solo time to get down with the team”
“this thing we call rap”
is that the default way to refer to hip-hop now?
This has to be one of my favorite joints to throw at then end of a night at my dj gigs.
keep your heart, keep your heart. these girls is smart, these girls is smart. play yo’ part, play your part… rest in peace sweet jones, r-i-p, rest in peace…
4. I miss Outkast.

Blame Andre.
I still can’t believe 2 years has gone by since this song came out.

@ Pago
I know, right?
Time flies.
@ slangin langan
Who knew that that Outkast lyric would eventually take on a double meaning…
Look in the mirror 3000.
“Said baby boy you only funky as your last cut…”
“And we got a new joe in town/
When the record player get to skippin and slowin down”
dope track/video
Pimp C’s verse > Andre. Both classics though for a classic song.
This song will be fonky 10-20 years from now… Grandpa to grandkid rap.
Damn, this almost makes me sad. We need some Outkast. I dont care if Dre and Big Boi dont feel like making music, thats what you do, youre great and you suffer for our own benefit lol. That’s what greatness is, sacrifice. Im about to shed a tear haha

Willie Hutch’s song was better.
RIP Pimp C
2 years? Serious?
I agree wholeheartedly with this post.. I miss Pimp like crazy.. Damn shame that he passed when he did.. I felt horrible when i heard about it..
Andre>>>>

===============
It was for me today, lol.
Top notch hoes get the most not the lesser.
This song is the shit.
That is all.
Co-sign everything said here. Everything about this song just clicks. It’s one of the few from this decade that I can call “classic” without thinking twice. I’ll be playing it decades from now.
Great post. One of my favorite songs from the past five years. Andre is so correct on the off part of the beat and then BB kills it with the Paul McCartney line.
“Send her in to outer space, I know he wish he could / Cause he payin’ 20K a day, that bitch is eating good”
great.
a modern day classic from the beat, to the lyrics, to the video
Yall ever seen The Mack? where Goldie is pimpin that white girl with this song in the background (the original Willie Hutch). Thats some stone cold pimpin. Here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnDrQlcJqo0
I still feel a lil’ miffed that Juicy J punked his bro for the beat and recycled it.. I love the Project Pat version too…
CLASSIC
I go in the second Bun drops his verse, and the drumkicks sync in.
Bryan Barber is a beast.
Everyone should give praise to Hutch and then Juicy J. When Pat ripped it, my life’s musical journey was complete since I waited for years for somebody to sample Hutch’s song.
I still love this song..they all came with it.
Damn i miss Pimp..I still remember that day he died. Hell the night before everybody got hype cuz Scarface previewed some songs off the Made album. Most folks figured it would be a good day cuz we recieved another up to par Face album, but naw….hell naw. Instead the city of Houston lost its favorite adopted son….
thanks for throwing this one back out there. and agree – this is def “grandpa to grandkid” rap. hell, may even have throw this one at some point during my wedding!
This is probably the last great posse cut in rap. It’s a damn dream come true. It has damn near everything you could want. Legendary emcees coming together over a legendary beat. And what a damn concept! “Player’s Anthem!?” and they each put their own spin on the topic of being a player. This is a true classic that, to me, can be perfect as Pimp C’s send off song. Unless you want to add “Livin this Life.”
Instant classic right here. Loved that it wasn’t just your ordinary posse cut. Props to Three 6 for letting everyone jump on this. All came correct too. Willie Hutch ooh wee.

^ best video i’ve seen in a minute
im probably retarded, but what does “spaceships dont come equipped with rearview mirrors/they dip as quick as they can the atmosphere is now ripped” mean? always wondered..
man this is one of the last great hip hop videos ever it looked like even when they werent filming everybody was having fun – the cameos were on point, man everything was on point one of the few songs where the video lives up with the songs lyrics
an i havent even seen this extended version b4
“Spaceships Don’t Come Equipped With Rearview Mirrors…”
What does this mean?….SMH I tried
Spaceships are a metaphor for People that move forward and get where they need to be life and don’t look back at the past hence “Don’t come equipped with rearview Mirrors.
This song is my top 100
I always dug Project Pat on this beat. IMO just like in “Big Pimpin” Pimp stole the show! To all the kids out there, Pimp had swagger! That stuff you see these clowns doing is make believe!
@ Chea
Love the honest question, as if hip-hop fans know it all, right?
“Spaceships Don’t Come Equipped With Rearview Mirrors…”
What does this mean?….SMH I tried
————————————————————————-
I always thought he was referring to him being a ATLien; hence him riding a spaceship. And spaceships don’t come with rearview mirrors because he doesn’t look into the past. [Droppin' Knowledge 101]
Dre’s verse is beastly. WE NEED NEW MATERIAL.
“Wetness all around me, true,
But I’m no island, peninsula maybe,
makes no sense I know crazy!
Give up all this pussycat in my lap
no looking back”
Fo shiznit.
Jahiem had a song with this sample too
“I Choose You”
I miss pimp c
