TSS Presents Smoking Sessions With Rakim
"Smoking Sessions With..." By TC on October 22, 2009 at 1:31 pmIf ever there was a Smoking Session that needn’t nary an introduction, this would be it. A living legend and mythical mononym, Rakim builds with TSS Crew’s TC about his forthcoming album The Seventh Seal and how a pioneer can still break new ground amongst an even newer generation.
Smoking Sessions with Rakim from The Smoking Section on Vimeo.
Rakim’s The Seventh Seal features appearances and production from Busta Rhymes, Jadakiss, Jake One, Maino, Nick Wiz & many more. It will be released on November 17th, 2009 courtesy of Ra Records/SMC Recordings.

TC yucked it up w/my MC idol (ll).
Jealousy is not the word.
awwwwwwwww yeah!
Standing approx 3 ft away from Rakim = about what I figure it’s gonna feel like when Jesus comes back.
It wasn’t awe so much as “aww man, we are not worthy.” A part of me almost went fanboy & just wanted to give dude a hug for being so instrumental in the music that shaped my life. But I was cool lol.
dope interview TC. u almost stumped him w/ the last question.
u shoulda asked him why he’s rocking a sticker on his fucking hat. he’s too grown for that kiddie shit.

I would’ve. LOL. And I thought about it too. Glad I didnt walk up in that room.
From a distance, I was just kneeling mumbling lyrics from Microphone Fiend while passing prayer beads through my fingers.
But I was cool

LOL
Sampler sounds hot…..BUT there are no uptempo tracks. Ra has the ill slow flow, of course, but he also shines on uptempo joints – Know The Ledge, Lyrics of Fury, Follow The Leader, Uplift, Let The Rhythm Hit ‘Em, I Know You Got Soul, etc.
If these are the final tracks, he needs to go back in the lab and throw two uptempo bonus tracks on there.
Not only is he G.O.A.T. on the M.I.C. but he is also R.A.M.
First ever hip hop artist (along with Eric B) to have a million dollar record deal.
Good stuff TC, video based interviews are the way forward, keep up the good work.
Yo, I ran into The God during 2008’s Rock The Bells at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.
I went straight fanboy, lol.
I’ll have to wait until later to peep this, but I already know it’s good shit. Nice work TC. TSS Is Da Bess Mayne
Hey Paw…you know it’s all fun & games when I send shots your way, right? lol

hahahaha
@Teef, it’s all jolly japes, no harm done, peace.
Damn, Allah seems intimidating as fuck. Not cause he’s goon-ish, per se, but cause he’s a deep ass thinker that don’t stumble on his words one but. Ain’t no slew of ‘youknowwhatimsayin’s with this dude.
good shit TC. way to keep the composure, as always.
good interview…
As much as I want to hate on TC (that was a joke), I have to admit, this was a dope interview.
Once again, good sh*t, TC.
And LMAO, I’d pay a million bucks to see Gotty go fanboy. That would be priceless.
TC = The Crew’s Barbara Walters lol.
True story, that same atory that caught Rakim & made him think kinda caught me off guard too lol. I was standing there thinking “damn, good question holmes” lol.
TC = The Crew’s Barbara Walters lol.

William Michael Griffin Jr aka Rakim
Saw him 1987, Manchester England.
He had big presence from the back of the hall – I can only imagine being in the same room.
Nice interview, thanks.
No more written interviews?
goat for sure. tried to meet him but he just vanishes after shows.
Big Daddy Kane came into my work again today. I thought I was cool, at least much cooler than the first few times i seen him. But after he left my coworker said my face lights up so much when i talk to him so i guess wasnt so cool haha. He did tell me that the Cormega song was 5 years old tho, and he’s gonna bring his ipod next time and let me hear his new shit. Geeked.
