Tha Dogg Pound - “Westside Rydin’”
AUDIO By K1NG on October 22, 2009 at 9:37 amI’ll be rooting for Tha Dogg Pound as long as blood still pumps through my veins and their music pumps through my speakers. Kurupt & Daz have been rapping for nearly two decades now and show no signs of stopping with their latest album That Was Then, This Is Now dropping in November.
If the lead single “Westside Rydin’” is any indication on how the rest of the project is going to sound, the duo will be getting a lot of love and hopefully an equal amount of support from their core audience of West Coast Hip-Hop heads. Over a FredWreck-produced gem that combines a mess of synthesizers, low toned piano keys and electric guitar notes with sounds of the light tapping of a bongo drum, the two proceed to ravage the beat with their distinctive left coast braggadocio that catapulted them to rap’s elite in 1994. Most likely Tha Dogg Pound isn’t going to find huge radio success in the current hipster climate, but if they keep bringing this kind of heat to the table, their true fans should definitely be showing up to the counter come November.
