snoop-dre-game

Some select artists seem to constantly find ways to maintain relevancy in the music business, no matter how many candles are on their cake. For the most part this is found in other genres: Bob Dylan in Country or AC/DC in Rock, et. al. But some veterans in Hip-Hop can achieve the same results. One of the most prevalent MC’s to have this attribute is Snoop. I have a feeling that when he’s 65, he’ll still be rocking the mic. Oxygen tank filled with marijuana fumes fueling his rhymes, and a 20-something R&B act providing the chorus, Mr. Broadus will still have the teeny-boppers dropping it like it’s hot in 2036.

“Gangsta Luv,” his latest venture into the pop music arena, is a synth-filled, club-inspired collaboration with The-Dream and his catchy hook writing ability that is sure to take over your radio stations by Halloween. Snoop’s flow is so smooth that what he’s saying is irrelevant; it’s still going to keep your attention. This, mixed with his larger than life persona, is a perfect combination for someone looking to be a radio mainstay. Truthfully, I love it when a Snoop single drops just so I can hear an MC in my top 20 spit in between the barrage of sub-par rappers that the majors try to push on us. This song is no different and forces me to anticipate his upcoming album Malice In Wonderland much more than I thought I would.
