Let me stop.

I got into a VERY heated moment with a well-known Bay rap artist (signed to a major) over this same discussion. And you know how it goes, I am speaking my mind intelligently… and he is talking about “meet me here in a bit… got the heat and goons with me.”

Over hyphy? Really?!?!

(P.S. He never showed – but his weed carriers and leeches did – and I am riding solo. A Bay legend stepped in on my side and it was squashed)

Hyphy/Crunk seemed like novelties to me. It’s good to incorporate something different like that in your repertoire if you can wear that suit well, but unwise to base your career on something that will get faded.

But there was talk that Hyphy was the new Crunk.

I think Hyphy lacked a central figure to take it nationwide. 40 touched on it, but it seemed like he kinda latched on to the movement after it got big. The Pack ended up one hit wonders and honestly, Keak was never gonna get much burn outside of the Bay.
