“Religious…”
AUDIO By Gotty™ on October 11, 2009 at 10:31 amR. Kelly cares not what you may think of him; sex still sells & he’s still peddling it.
He cares not that Nas already did the Untitled thing. Come November 10th, he’s releasing his own Untitled album.
Robert cares not that today is Sunday. He has a new song out titled “Religious” and…it has nothing to do with Sunday School, tithing or Creflo Dollar.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
But out of my own curiosity, will the world posthumously forgive his sexual deviant behavior & predisposition for pissing on minors, similar to how we forgave the accused Michael Jackson? Or have you already forgiven him? Is it “okay” to like R’s music or would that cause you to incur to a mean side-eye from others as if you’re a pedo too? At what point do we separate the man and the music?

This song ain’t a patch on Gotham City and I Believe I Can Fly.
That’s when R Kelly was good but then he fell off.
I never stopped liking the music. The man was always retarded and now we know he’s a deviant. I don’t care. If he makes hits, I’m there. This song’s lyrics are pretty damn lecherous, but the beat is bland.
I am going to be honest…
Dude was one of my favorites - I copped every one of his albums (including “Born into the 90’s” when it was him and Public Announcement - but really just him - flashlights on head and all).
And he put out some amazing R&B records AND albums - my favorite being “R. Kelly” - of which I used to ride to daily.
I still even listened to him amidst the allegations.
But once there was proof… I honestly could no longer listen to any of his music.
I still cannot.
I get sick to my stomach (not even trying to be funny).
I try not to judge others. And knowing this business, underage females get over on just about every single artist who gets caught up in “the life.”
But I thought back to Aaliyah…
And it all started making sense.
It was a pattern.
I am not attempting to speak badly of Robert. It is just that I (personally) cannot separate his music from his personal life.
When he did tracks like I’m Your Angel (duet with Celine Dion) and Religous Love and the aforementioned favourites he was at his most introspective and heartfelt.
But there is a monster lurking beneath his facade and his never ending odes to loose sex are vile and putrid.
Justice should have been served, but alas money and power can make justice dissapear.
Anyway, for those interested, this is an interactive online zine BHM (Black History Month) with a good feature on Michael Jackson:-

Religious Love was one of my all time favorite records from him.
“Dearly beloved why did you go…”
*Sigh*

Thank you for the link!
@TRA: Dats what I was tellin you befo’!!!
It makes it weird to hear any of his more lewd older tracks now because you start to figure that his muses were…ehm… not women yet. I wasnt a huge fan, but I was very open to the music because most of my family were enormous fans.
It was one strike with the Aaliyah marriage, two with the allegations and he struck out with the golden shower debacle. And he didnt help his case with that whole “How old are we talking?” BS either. Instead of being apologetic, he’s being defensive? What’s really good Kells?
Don’t think I’ve entertained his music since. Kinda like how I don’t want to hear what a rapist has to say. Yeah, they found him innocent, but WE SAW THIS AGGIN DO IT.
fuckoutta here.
To answer Gotty’s question: No. Forgiven MJ? Nah. Just showing respect to the dead.
When I was younger and the Aaliyah allegations first came out, it was easy for me to separate the man from the music, thus, I still rocked to his music. Then, the tape came out.
It’s technically considered child pornography! That made it hard to cosign his music, especially the “vile and putrid” joints. But somehow, I still stepped and grooved in the name of love.
Talented he is. And we cannot take anything away from him. I know that I am not the only one who waited week after week for his installments of “Trapped in the closet.” But the truth still remains.
Chances are, I’ll probably like a few joints on the aforementioned Untitled. Only this time Robert ain’t getting my money. He hasn’t since Chocolate factory. But I was 19. Today, I have a little girl in elementary school.

If that does not put things into perspective… nothing does.
@ Contra™
Exactly. I listened… and then the lyrics and work began to take on a whole new meaning.
And off-topic for a sec but The Cleveland Show was (dare I say)… better than Family Guy in its second episode.
When Rallo wanted to fight Cleveland? DEAD! lol.
@ Contra
WOW!!!! This is my first time seeing or hearing about this interview. I do not even know anyone who is 19 unless I am related to them, or know their older siblings. And this negro’s talking about having 19 year-old friends? This cat is older than Jay-Z! And Jay was born in 69 or some shit! Nah, fuck that.
Gotty I got your answer, Fuck R. Kelly!!!!!!!!!!!

Co-sign. None of my peoples wanted to agree with me on this all week. Glad someone else thought the same.

And this is why his concert got cancelled here in Albany,NY no love for pervs LOL
This man has some major inner demons, straight up, and I don’t want to hear that every genius has a stroke of madness line either.
Has it ever been divulged if this behavioural pattern of his stems from his childhood experiences and wot not?
^ See an R. Kelly - E! True Hollywood Stories episode in the making. lol
@Rawsee: Having family in that age bracket changes everything. My niece is 15 now, baby sis is 17….They’re still babies to me and I’m nowhere near Kells’ age. Nuff said.
@TRA: The Cleveland show surprised me pleasantly. Cleveland Ghostriding = gold
oh, and the Halle Berry Oscar spoof… *DEAD*
“The Cleveland show surprised me pleasantly. Cleveland Ghostriding = gold”
I forgot about that! I could not even catch my breath!!!
I wonder if I can find it on YouTube lol.
Interesting array of opinions. Even the negative reasonings vary greatly.
I’m all for separating the man from the music. But it’s hard to treat them as two parts when your business is selling sex talk inspired in part, we’ll assume, by your own sex acts. It’d be like watching a Roman Polanski film about having relations w/a 17yo. Walking too fine a line.
“Religious Love” > “Religious”
This dude is just flat out gross! I know I have issues and all, but none nowhere near this level. HE PISSES ON LITTLE GIRLS! His attitude is crazy! He acts like we the ones that are tripping. I got twin 9 year olds, so I have a real issue with this dude. I don’t care how good the music is, I won’t support him. He needs help and jail time.
I’m going to refrain from commenting on Mr. Kelley as I have nothing nice to say. Just wanted to send along this message from clevelandbrown@clevebro.com

I still like some of his music…until I remember what he’s done.
I’m not even sure how to feel about R. Kelly at this point.
“There can only be ooooone me / Can’t nobody can’t nobody do your body like meeeee”
I’ll tell you what…R used to be my shit. The Public Announcement / 12 play era was slightly before my time, but the late 90s and 2000-”I Wish”-era-stepping stuff is great. All personal issues aside, his music was guilty of slipping these past two-three-years though.
The last material he did that I extremely enjoyed was the Happy People disc of his double he dropped in 2004. Feel good music to the fullest. My personal joint off that one was, “Dance With That Woman,” which really helped reinforce my relationship with the lady back in college, which was really needed because when you start to live with someone everyday, you spite them.
Kels might’ve ruined in his own personal life, but he sure helped mine.

lol
Another truth.
Never been a big fan of Kels, TP2.com is probably my favorite disc of his, but had to do more w/ being a freshman in college. But I can’t get past what he’s done to even give him a chance now. I’ve always respected his artistry, but even after Aaliyah, he’s gotten the side eye from me.
This dude needs help! He was even sleeping with GeorgeDaniels daughter! His shit get no play in my ride©Stacy from Menace to Society
fuck all the bullshit…the music is still hot he can still write his ass off.
kells got concepts trey thongs would kill for…even though he is a heathen you gotta repsect his contributions to music and when hes not trying to keep up with the young uns he can still make timeless music.
I’ll say this much about R Kelly though, at least he ain’t a one trick pony like Keith Sweat, ooooh baby this, ooh baby that, oooh baby I wanna trim the nail on your camel toe, ooh baby I wanna valet your car, ooh baby I wanna watch Dora The Explorer, Keith, please, shhhhhheeeeeiiiiiiitttt!
R Kelly got more tricks in his bag, I’ll give him that much, that You To Be Happy track with Biggie was the slickness. In particular the Biggie verse.
Man Fuck R.Kelly! I’m not excusing his bullshit! This dude is dead as wrong! At some point his actions overshadow any contribution he has had to music. He paying for abortions for teen girls and pissing on people! Its just my opinion, I just can’t rock to dude anymore. And any other artist who pulled this mess would get the same treatment. I got to put my foot down……
I’d rather give my money to those in need rather than in the pockets of a child molester. It would be awesome if everyone gave $10 bucks to someone who actually deserved it, instead of buying this guys music.
I have held back on this topic because.. I kinda knew of his debauchery back when he did a college tour during the 92 - 93-ish era. My roommate at the time was a huge fan, me I was still hooked on Dr Dre’s Chronic or pumping The Coup when I felt rebellious. Dude was like upset that I didn’t wanna go to the concert cause as he said.. All the girls are going to be there. This was true as well as the older college crowd. Anyway After the concert he comes back and is lets go to the afterparty. THAT was my type of scene — or so I thought. The hotel was packed with all types of chicks but I noticed that many were not of college age. Now truth be told ALOT would make you forget to ask for ID but it seemed the younger set was making it in. My roommate happened to be from the area and still had major connections to the high school. And thus knew all the chicks that got him to the back. The next day this dude comes back to the room talking about some chick he had .. and then was like “When she turns 18, Imma have already had that locked down and she gonna be bad!” He then described what was happening when he went in the back and its was like high school girls gone wild. And he said Robert was getting all the chicks. (It took me a while to get who Robert was.
But once the Aaliyah debacle came out, I knew this dude was not only not lying but probably missing the most of the story.
Do I despise or hate or even pity him.. no.. I am one of the few who felt like the only way R Kelly got convicted is if MJ went down the same road. Once one was free the other was sure to follow. To R Kelly’s defense he could have ran to France or Singapore but dude is trying to maintain the same life.. maybe not the smartest thing but it shows either he is trying to correct his behavior or he is so outta control he will get caught later.
Wow so much obessed peo huh/ u guys are making the song too popular/ kelly is inocent / think of all the bullshat u hv done. If u hate kelly u wouldnt be googling his songs all ya idiots/ fucking obessed mutherfuckers
