It’s Friday, snitches! That means I’m sharing, but straight cuttin’ and pastin’ the pertinent info (and the extra mustard intended to entice you to download a musical composition) because I don’t want to be working anymore than you do. Read the rest of this entry »
If you can think back to eons ago in Internet years, Reggie Noble told me he planned on releasing Reggie Noble “0″ 9 ½ later this year while simultaneously looking out for his Gilla House cohorts. What, you was ready to call him a liar? Read the rest of this entry »
It’s been an entertaining week but alas our final installment for Snoop’s Great 8 has come to an end. For Video 5, Snoop D-O-double-G takes us behind the scenes of his XXL photoshoot, where he sparks a blunt and turns on his legendary charisma. Read the rest of this entry »
I remember looking over the preliminary tracklist for the The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack and thinking how big it would be for a Hip-Hop artist’s career to land on a spot on such a notable soundtrack. Seeing that it’s the current craze amongst teenagers and further releases from said artist would most likely reach their radar. Read the rest of this entry »
There never have been bounds to creativity. However with the presence of reality TV, it seemed as though truly original ideas were fading faster than Tila Tequila’s already shaky reputation after the Shawne Merriman situation. Yet if you have an idea, free time, talent and some money it doesn’t take much else to have your work seen by literally millions of people, thanks in large to the net. Donato Sansone’s epic flip-book inspired piece of art, entitled VIDEOGIOCO, is just one of the many wonders found in the confines of these fluorescent screens that we sit in front of on a daily basis. Boys like what girls like. And boys love girls who have nice breasts an affinity for vinyl. If they made a men’s version, I guess guys could wear these too. But it seems only right & so much better covering a female’s two bee stings. Read the rest of this entry »
The other day, I said that I thought Superbad didn’t live up to my expectations. I meant it. Too many redundant themes and rhymes. Too many rehashed tracks. It pretty much adds credence to my firm belief that artists put way more time & actual creative effort into their mixtapes than label-approved albums. Read the rest of this entry »
What The Game’s Been Missing is one of my personal favorite albums from 2005 & was found in multiple top 10 lists across the net. At the time, Juelz was on fire, dropping great verses everywhere he found an open 16 worth his attention. Somewhere along the line however, his rapping seemed to take a backseat to his affiliations. Whether it was separating himself from his former crew, trying to start his own crew or hanging onto the coat tails of the now megastar Lil’ Wayne, it seemed like his lyrical content became just a secondary asset to his persona. If I were doing a rap album, and had unlimited pockets, not only would it probably be feta as f_ck but it would also guarantee Nate Dogg and TQ belting out a few hooks. As far as reaching out to a few rappers for assistance, I might choose Too Short to round out my pimp game and feature Lil Wayne for promotional purposes only. And beats? Apparently, DãM-FunK doesn’t just do beats, he does music and that’s the difference.
Since I couldn’t say it as noble as Stones Throw’s philosopher of P-funk himself, all I’m left to do is pass along the music. Read the rest of this entry »
Probably the most enticing quality of 50 Cent’s Behind The Music special is its lack of pitfall. Where VH1′s storied series is renown for going into depth of the industry’s biggest stars and their descension, as well as their triumphs, Curtis Jackson really can’t count his losses since his 2003 official breakout. If you know Freddie G’s story & history, you’re familiar that he’s not one for the industry politrix. Give him a blunt and beat and watch him work. And that’s exactly what he’s accomplishing on this freshly liberated joint from his next project The Labels Tryin To Kill Me! dropping early November. Read the rest of this entry »
