I don’t think I’ve done an entry on these, mainly because initially it didn’t look like they’d be making it stateside. But alas, they did so run ye forth & cop. Nike Sportswear & Dutch artist Parra team up for this pair of Maxim 1′s. Good color contrast, three sets of laces & working with a very lightweight shoe as the Maxim model make these a winner.

This is yet another clearcut example why Adidas (and Puma) are fresher than Nike.
Why do Nike even bother, it beggers belief sometimes.

Have you tried the Maxims? From a technological standpt, Nike got those right, aside from the curling of the toe lol.

At 28 years of age, I can honestly say that in my lifetime, and in my neighborhood they were never truley in.
I got some Nikes and I got some Pumas, and can whole heartedly say that Puma are a more sophisticated footwearing experience. Straight up.
It ain’t about them being in or not, that don’t make a difference.
It’s about knowing what to rock and how to rock it ie what looks good on you and how you wear it.
Folks get too caught up in brands and what others think about the labels they might be rocking, that’s when you lost.
Puma Clyde, Suede, Adidas Gazelle, Samba and Stan Smith these are all vintage and will be around until mankind perishes, they always being re-invented, re-invigorated and archived versions being released again. If they weren’t then their lifespan wouldn’t have such longevity.
Yeah Nike’s got some good ones too, but just because it’s Swoosh, don’t make it ploosh.
Nike got some nice numbers too, but a lot of their designs are lazy and generic, they can’t think outside the box and they can’t duplicate the classics that Puma and Adidas got, cos they know that’s just biting.
Pumas is not completely corny. Many a time I’ve contemplated copping a pair. But when I really think about it, or try them on at the store…can’t do it. Just not me. If I’m out some where, I’m on the murder-em-all path. On some “where the fuck did he get those??” shit. IMO, Pumas can’t do that. Anywhere.
BTW, these Air Maxims is homo style. Don’t tell me they want more than a buck for it…
I’m a loyal nikehead, but their designs have been going downhill for a few years now, every potentially decent shoe they put out has to have some garish colour or some bizarre patterning added, seemingly just to piss me off.
However
NO SHOE is anywhere near as comfortable as a pair of air max, in fact my feet have been so spoiled by nike’s unrivalled air cushioning that any non-”Air” shoe feels like I’m walking round with a pair of bricks strapped to my feet….
I aint never owned no goddamn Pumas lol. Not the old or the new styles. They may have been cool @ a certain time & areas, but not for the kid.
My sister does though, as they make some “cute” shoes for the birds.
I hope everybody sleeps on Maxims & they go on sale. More for me lol. I’m waiting on the blue to drift stateside.
