Lupe Fiasco - “Fire”
AUDIO By TC on October 8, 2009 at 9:55 amLet me find out sampling Jimi Hendrix is the new trend for rappers in 2K10. Things could get real groovy, not to mention pricey. Ain’t that right Joe?
Should this appear on Lasers, however, just know it co$t him a pretty penny so don’t forget to cop that this December.
And all this talk about this being Lupe’s barrage against not making MTV’s Hottest MC is pure madness…if it’s the gospel. Haven’t heard a peep from The Cool since his previous single “Shining Down” prematurely sprung a leak.

Nice! That Jimi loop/chop is ridic.
im saprized nobodys chopped this up b4
Oh this is vicious!
damn this is the second jimi song to come out this month. i gotta put out my jimi song before this becomes a fad. “If not the same they similar like asher, and mathers”
Lupe!
I love my town.
My mind was a sponge, now it’s sham-wow.
I’ll never throw in the towel so just wipe me down.
@ignite I don’t see why you have to “put out” an artist because it’s becoming a fad. Shows that you do care about following fads and are currently following a particular one. Ironic, isn’t it? Listen to what you want.
Anyway, Lupe never manages to let me down.
This is a nice track, beat is slick, besides the Hendrix sample, I like the way they have layered the drums, almost has a drum n bass vibe about them.
On the downside, not to fond of the filtered vocal effect, sounds like somebody taking your order in a McDonalds Drive Thru. They should have kept the vocals at normal pitch, that would have been doper. But still Lupe did his thing on the mic, can’t front.
That Hendrix sample alone couldn’t have saved Joe’s horrible album.
insane..
Good stuff. This is better than Shining Down.
Cee-Lo can produce some hendrix exclusive ish ! he gets some stuff ! still secret but trust… maybe for his crew reunion LP next year…
ahh
@Mowno Tone it down a bit, man. I think what ignite meant by “put out” his jimi song meant he wanted to release his own jimi song before everyone else does. Dude is probably an aspiring rapper. Just a misunderstood line.
