“I Miss That Old Curren$y…”
AUDIO By Gotty™ on October 15, 2009 at 9:22 amYou’ll rarely hear anyone say that because most forget how long Spit Vicious has actually been around. But the idea & that statement came up as a topic of discussion on my other e-stomping grounds. Curren$y’s place in the game goes longer than his current tenure with the Jets! Before he embarked on the stoner-style that made him initially popular as a member of the Young Money camp (a style which Wayne robbed him of but that’s another day, another post), he was a No Limit solider.
“Roll up with both the doors up on the black Lambo
Red rag round my head look like a Black Rambo
A banana clip with 16 hollow tips of ammo
smoke a aggin like aggin smoke a Camel
Got blacked out tints aggins like “who is that?”
I give a hatin’ aggin two shots where his ribs at…”
Over time, he chose to holster his pistol, opting to take the pre-rolled doobie from behind his ear and use it as one of the central themes of his rhymes. But while he slowed down on the gangsterism, rap’s Jeff Spicoli has always kept street credos as a part of his lyrical content (See: My favorite verse from “Scared Of Monsters“).

Jets!
Another one of my favorites from his No Limit tenure was Everywhere I Go
One of the few artists who decided to stop talking about gangster shit because he wasn’t doing gangster shit.
Curren$y has been the shit for a minute.
lol i didn’t think anyone else knew about old curren$y save for louisiana folk. good post
Lights please Lights please….turn off the lights….for now everything just seems so right.
I love that song.
GET EM PERCY!
Not 100 percent sure its TSS, but anyone else getting those fake virus scan pop-ups browsing around here? Again not sure its TSS but giving folks a heads up.
^yeah that happened to me after I posted a comment in this thread.
I’ve only become a fan of Spitta’s for about a year now and I’ve heard him say about his tenure at No Limit but I didn’t know he was spittin like this. May have to hit the limewire up for more.
I like him better with the “laissez-faire” style of rap. That sh!t is so f*ckin’ cool. “No Worry Rap”… that’s what we’ll call it.
Maaaaaaannnnn for some reason I thought he was crippin….oh well Jets fool
