The music business is in such a confusing state for fans of multiple genres. The amount of music being thrown out is increasing as the amount of sites covering it continues to grow as well. Hip-Hop is pretty easy to keep up with when sites like us and Nahright are holding things down, but for other genres the boundaries aren’t so clear.
For instance, apparently I’ve been missing out on the French rock band Phoenix even though they are supposedly wildly popular this year. Fortunately, I’m a creature of habit who can’t help but browse the new release section of my local record store for an eye-catching cover that begs for my attention.
Their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix is the album that caught my eye, and in just over a month it already has a solid placement in my top 5 albums of the year with songs like “Lisztomania,” “Big Sun” and the commercially successful “1901” to keep it lively. In the middle of the disc contains a two part epic song entitled “Love Is Like A Sunset.” This extended portion of the project provides a feeling that is almost cinematic as it transitions from one helping of great songs to another seamlessly.
Some complain about the disappearance of full length LPs worth the price of admission these days, but this is an exception to the rule. Support good music.

They’re the most consistent band of the past 5+ years; Phoenix is constantly evolving and changing their sound while remaining true to their roots.
One of my favorites, thanks for posting them up.

A friend suggested this album and in a search for something new to listen to, I gave it a shot.
Shit blew me away.
Definitely one of my favorite albums of 09.
You see the drummer’s got an MPC by him?
