Regardless of her past with Hip-Hop, to say this is a huge accomplishment would be an understatement. Not mad at Jay at all for this move. Imagine what his numbers next week are going to look like.

This kinda seems like a fake olive branch. The interview wasn’t bad but I don’t buy her enthusiasm. To me it seems more like she holla’d at him on some “Hey we came from the gutter and now we can bathe in $100 bills.” rather than her taking a genuine venture towards embracing rap. Not that I expect her to host a lyricist lounge or anything but it’s moments like her stance on the N word at the end that makes it seem sideways.
Either way dude got a good look and I’m not mad at him. Thing is I don’t expect soccer moms to rock Reasonable Doubt anytime soon but it’s a start I guess.

a wise friend of mine pointed out to me that her audience is primarily old white women and she has to cater to them.
I don’t think as an artform were looking for her approval. If artist like Jay continue to grow and evolve, we’ll have our own spokesman to champion our art. Were looking to change the minds of the audience anyway, since they have the buying power. Oprah’s mind is already made up……
Jay’s no saint but Oprah’s never looked highly upon Black men in general. She’s very selective about the black men she has on her show. (hell, when’s the last time you seen a pic of her and Stedman for that matter?) But on that level it’s a real coup for Jay. The whole soccermom crowd is where Oprah’s heart is, not to mention where her bigggest money makin opp remains.
She ain’t turnin the folks down for the block or urban america or any group of folk darker than a suntan.
