Back in March, some cops down in Florida went in for a drug bust and got deterred for over nine hours plying Nintendo Wii. Unwittingly, they didn’t know the target had security cameras installed in the house. Apparently no one had seen an episode of The Wire. Before I pushed play though, I knew these fools were playing Wii Bowling. Read the rest of this entry »
Grinding to make a name for yourself by releasing a mixtape shows one a noble level of dedication but delivering an actual album to the people proves you’re really in it to win it. Such as the case of the Chicago young’n A.J. Crew as he sucks you into his R.E.M. mode with his debut Nightmares & Daydreams. Read the rest of this entry »

The music business is in such a confusing state for fans of multiple genres. The amount of music being thrown out is increasing as the amount of sites covering it continues to grow as well. Hip-Hop is pretty easy to keep up with when sites like us and Nahright are holding things down, but for other genres the boundaries aren’t so clear. Read the rest of this entry »
Well it seems the bulk of the Hip-Hop blogosphere (us included,) pushed the sleep timer on TV Land, so we’re going to start from here. Mr. Pink, b.k.a. Jozeemo in this instance, is on his solo grizz as he wreaks havoc on the traquil blocks of Sesame Street. Read the rest of this entry »

I was already on the cusp of saying how much I’ve enjoyed the musical maturation of Scotty. Yeah, we’ve seen these freshman for what seems like forever. Yet, what we sometimes lose track of the fact that Man On The Moon is his debut and he and his classmates are all still fresh in the game. But after catching his BET Rising Icon’s performance late the other night, I’m sold. Read the rest of this entry »

We told ‘em last week that certain Rappers Desperately Need A Name Change because they could never be marketed correctly (or taken seriously in some cases) and now ATL’s favorite nephew Killer Mike has announced to AllHipHop that he will forever be known as Mike Bigga.
“I’m going with the name Mike Bigga because I really feel like I’m bigger than what I have been in the past and I’ve managed to get legendary status from being a raw rap guy in terms of being able to come out of the shadows of the hardships I’ve had,” the entertainer said as he referenced recent tragedies that have occurred in his area.
“I’ve become my own boss in a bigger partnership with Grind Time Official and Grand Hustle now and I’m just on to bigger and better things,” Bigga continued. “And I figure what better time now, going into this new season that’s going to be coming up in January when Tip get out and let the world know I’m on to bigger and better things.”
Fair enough.
Still, Mike, you’re a smart dude. You could’ve been a little more clever than simply adding ‘Bigga.’ There’s too many Big’s and Lil’s as is. That’s just my 2¢, though. What do I know?
I’ve read several different autobiographies & biographies over the past several months. Bobby Womack. Sly Stone. Marvin Gaye. James Brown. Fred Wesley. They all had one name that recurred within their pages: Stevie Wonder. Across genres & decades, Stevie’s music has sold literally tens of millions of copies chronicling many different emotions & experiences along the way. What many may not realize is Stevie’s work as it pertains to others. Read the rest of this entry »
