Nas. The man. The myth. The enigma. I’ve never really known how to describe Nas properly throughout my years of listening to Hip-Hop. For as much as his music will forever speak for him (how it should be), it’s what he says (or doesn’t say, rather) off the mic which has left people scratching their heads. The Kelis situation, shit. I’m STILL trippin’ over the numbers that surfaced after she announced her and Nasir’s marriage was over. BUT, as a lover of the culture, one question that’s always been more pertenant to me was his absence from two of this year’s most talked about albums, OB4CLII and The Blueprint 3.

Well, David D., wait no longer because now we have answers. Sort of (see that’s the enigma thing I was referring to). During his performance at the Orange Rock Corps concert in the U.K., the good people at the Punchbowl Blog caught up with Sincere to speak on his absence. They also chop it up about parenthood, only recently hearing “Verbal Intercourse 2″ (hmmm…), him being offered the Def Jam presidency (had no clue about that) and his upcoming album with Damien Marley, Distant Relatives.

Yep, Nas completely avoids from the entire “Empire State of Mind” topic leaving me to wonder what REALLY happened with that fiasco. Personally, I think the record ended up fine as it is, but I’d be a fool to turn down a new verse from Esco. It’s my personal opinion that he would’ve bodied “A Star Is Born.” Take out that third Hov verse, insert a Nas one and leave J. Cole at the end and imagine the final product.
