Out of context, Ernie’s quip means absolutely nothing. But we’re an intelligent bunch. I’m sure if we analyze this we can come up with a proper interpretation. So let’s give it a shot.

It starts of by Ernie telling Nick that “it takes a tough man to make tender forecast.” A seemingly pseudo-sexual sleight that’d lead us to believe that it’d be the forecast that was getting pounded by the tough man. Given that the ultimate goal is to achieve a “tender forecast” for Mother Nature, it’s safe to assume that Father Time’s first name is Nick.

Ernie clarifies this point with the very simple imperative.

“Keep fucking that chicken.”

There you have it. Mother Nature is the bird/chicken, and Father Time a.k.a Nick The Weatherman needs to keep plowing her in order to keep her tender and ensure the accuracy of his forecast.
