My love for reading, and subsequently writing, stems from discovering Charles Schultz’s Peanuts in Ms. Kitt’s library @ my elementary school. In second grade, I discovered the wonderful would of Schultz’s characters and the imaginary world created by those simple bubble quotes. By and by, I assume I developed part of my morals & life approach from watching Charlie Brown gracefully accepting life’s lemons & attempting to make lemonade.
Now, I realize I could’ve learned a lot more had Schultz’s original publishers not rejected the character of Daniel. Then again, I think back to third grade & remember unzipping my pants, inserting a Chinese yo-yo in my pants with an adolescent Gotty™ lurching around the room with that thing zooming in & out. Ms. Payne caught me & subsequently paddled the hell out of me for that antic.
Yeah, thank god they didn’t introduce Daniel. I would’ve been worse @ an even earlier age.
