So, I think my mans shot me a link to new music from DJ Quik’s cousin or Battlecat’s little brother, because I don’t know who the hell Dam-Funk is but his music is on some straight-out-of-Cali-hydroponic-lo-fi-funk type shit. Even at only seven tracks, the tremendous Toeachizown Vol. 1 : LATrik instrumental tape is full of enough moody moogs, ripping synth basslines and high-pitched blips to make up for the cold cup of coffee decaying next to me.
I’d love to upload the whole tape for you guys, but upon further examination, Dam-Funk is on Stones Throw. And, since we like to keep friends close, I can only let one of these bundles of bounce slip out for free (||).

Only problem is (and it really is not a problem in my book) that over at S.T., they do not care about what most labels do (which I totally agree with btw)… they care about what they should… the music and artistic freedom.
So unfortunately, a talent that would make a great addition to any mainstream Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk (etc) album, and subsequently be heard by many more ears… will probably not.
That right there hurts.
This producer would destroy mostly all other producers currently flooding the airwaves.
At least we have Mayer Hawth doing it big right now!
