Notable Quotable - Ali Vegas On “Lost”
AUDIO By Beware on September 17, 2009 at 9:23 pm
“Hey yo, these newborns is through teething (why you say that?)
They way they gettin’ shot so frequently
You would think that it’s flu season
The media got ‘em thinkin’ they not as real
If they don’t hold guns
Or push the hottest wheels
That’s why even the ones that got college skills
Will still pop the steel all over a dollar bill
I seen a prostitute get smacked out her heals
Funeral arrangements replace doctor bills
And you ain’t considered a gangster
‘Till you get locked up and the mayer come get you out of jail
That’s money, power, respect at it’s highest peak
And you can’t survive the streets if your mind is weak
That’s why I supply the bleak with mental steroids
Every time I speak
My body wasn’t designed for sleep (why?)
I’m a chronicle thinker
And I learned how to keep the smokers in line with the drinkers
I’m heavens gift
My competition’s hella pissed ’cause of my hellaness
I tell ‘em this (What you tell ‘em?)
You can floss and you can be the boss
But you’re….(Lost)”

Instead of gloating about how materialistic they are, or even worse, how many people they might kill, more MCs need to step their leadership game up. Reach out to diamonds in the rough, like Ali “The Prince” Vegas did with this graphic quotable from “Lost,” a recent Don Notz-produced collabo between him and Torae off Notz’ upcoming and aptly-titled album Lead By Example. It’s a perfect example of how rap can be stirring and influential, while still using the lyrical measurements like clever wordplay, punch-lines and bold ad-libs used to prove worth.
Learn to teach.
It’s two-birds-with-one-stone type of thing.

Ali got screwed by the Trackmasters.
Them cats have nearly fucked over more talent then Dre, Puffy or JD.
I like the lyrical aspect of this track but other than that I can’t say much positive about it.
Ali Vegas was that dude. Not sure why he never came out or blew up. Lyrics, flow, and insightful lyrics. He had it all.
i believe he was papoose before pap was pap. and i mean that in terms of creating a buzz and letting it fall flat like the 2 sips of sprite you leave in you fridge for a month.
To this day, “Narcotics” is my favorite Ali Vegas song.
This would’ve been a REALLY dope album at the time…
