Video: Killer Mike Discusses Pill’s “Trap Goin’ Ham” Video

Mike reminds the camera, Atlanta & all others that the video “was shot five minutes from a police precinct & seven minutes away from the state capitol” and that walking down the street to a neighborhood like Pink City might inspire politicians to create change.
Aside — Last February, we started making mention of Pill’s name & music. A couple of days ago, I was offline the majority of the day. When I got on to play catchup & make the rounds, Pill’s freestyle video (click to watch Parts One & Two) was on so many sites that I lost count. Before that, homie got his just due with a mention in the NYT’s. As much as we bemoan the lack of support for artists that the internet generates buzz for, the fact that it’s about the music & the message sometimes gets lost in the sauce. 4180…, Pill’s message & Pill as a person (the man’s got a story) are the main point for me & the reason I started waving my rah-rah pom-poms early. The words are being heard @ the end of the day and they’re reaching the fans on a organic, grassroots way. I respect that because it shows that powerful rap still has a place Hip-Hop.
Now let’s hope when the time comes, the bandwagon makes a stop @ Best Buy so everybody can go in & make a purchase. Until then, clear some hard drive space for 4075: The Refill, coming soon.

Best of luck to the homie Pill. I caught on late (like May), but homie has a buzz that is increasing by the day. Like you said Gotty, I hope it translates to people heading to Best Buy whenever his debut hits shelves. But who knows these days?

Mike is that dude, and he make a great point about Pink City being in the heart of the ‘A’ and what it says about the city…With that being said the zones have been resisting gentrification but it’s always a losing battle.

same here n P.H.I., no matter how hard we fight, how much money we spend on taxes, and how many business/store fronts we start in our communities the government/politicians still continue to gentrify our huge, wore down, warehouses into privately owed lofts, condos, nd luxury apartments. Granting contracts to the same types of companies that build them up and let them degrade our communities… but the politicians keeps on blaming the urban/black folks!! Like we owned the old warehouses, like the companies that did own the warehouses put money back into that community, or like its our fault that half of the community lost their jobs just cause that company wanted to relocate….

having lived a few minutes walking disance from pink city (simpson rd between hightower rd. and ashby st. to northside dr.) and met both mike and pill, i was utterly suprise to check out gangsa pill’s video and see how graphic it was. its been videos in the projects (kilo ali, goodie mob, lo, and tip) before but never like this. I cant say whether it was good for the neighborhood or the whole westside of the a for that matter but i can say i have never witnessed a truer depiction of the uglier side of atlanta and what most of the city truly is. most rappers talk talk talk but it aint nothin for anybody signed to grind time official or grandhustle to show you what it really looks like straight without a chaser. whetherwrong or right i know somebody will see”trap goin ham” and learn something ,hopefully positive, from it- chris formerlly known as “scooter” or “mrzone5″
