A message to you rappers, Quik’s performance of “Dollaz & Sense” @ the ’95 Source Awards is how you approach a “diss.” Howso? Because @ the ’95 Source Awards, he showed how lyrical beef should be properly served.
“1,2 3,4,5,6,7,..
9 – 10,
Eiht you can’t win…
Tell me why you act so scary
Givin’ yo set a bad name wit ya misspelled name
E-I-H-T, now shall I continue?
yea he left out the “G” cause the G ain’t in you”
Having presented an award that year, I know Eiht was in audience (or at least in the vicinity) taking in every moment of the performance.

West coast diss tracks are heavily slept on… also real g’s by eazy e…”damn E/ They tried to fade you on Dre Day”/ But Dre Day only made Eazy’s payday….Also calling snoop an anorexic rapper was beautiful
Real Muthaphukkin G’s was definitely not slept on…it was the track won the beef for Eazy, BG Knocc Out, and Dre’sta
one of my fave cuts from quik. he murdered dude so bad on that…i don’t believe we’ve heard from eiht since.
“..now which one you nigs got some snaps on the petrol”
as an INGLEWOOD resident…i would rank West Coast disses in this order…
no vaseline>>dre day>>dollaz&sense>>real muthaphukkin compton city g’s>>callin out names(kurupt dissin jarule/dmx)>>bitches aint shit(dre dissin eazy>>king of the hill(wscg dissin cypress hill)>>>anything by yukmouth or game
Co Sign Teefy Cohen the jewish Blood
Teefy, a little high on Dre Day no? MC Eiht’s Def Wish III, dissing Quik gets honorable mention.
Still one of the craziest bars ever spit. I can only imagine what Eiht’s face was like after he heard that bar.
What about “Hit ‘Em Up”?
Wasn’t there a piece floating around the web earlier this year about why rap beef/dis tracks were so much better in the 90s? I’m pretty sure the writer blamed it on technology (the rise of youtube and everything). BTW, Quik and Eiht were beefing for the better part of a decade– no way something like could happen in 2009 without either getting squashed or leading to blodshed.
Hit Em Up= epitome of overrated…that song is wack juice to me.
best diss song ever imo.
he still preforms it every show too.
side note….Quik didn’t write it. G-1 did. Check the credits.
he did do the beat tho…which is crack baby diapers.
I remember being a CMW fan at the time and watching my dude catch a straight L.
I went out and bought like 3 DJ Quik tapes (At the time he wasn’t deemed CD worthy) and thinking “Oh boy I’m on a losing team”
Def Wish II wasn’t a bad comeback but the fact that the beat for “$$’s and Sense” was so hype made it a double killer track.
It’s not just about the writing .. its all about the delivery
fuck that record haters by e 40 is on of my fave westcoast diss records of all time.
he SHIT on AZ and rasheed wallace.
he called AZ “gay boy” lol
“Now if it don’t make dollaz, it don’t make sense.”
Not only is the song hard (||) but the beat is just so smooth.
The best line is when he said something to the effect of “you left out the g cuz the g aint in ya!”
Honorable mention goes out to him mentioning the Eiht drives a Camry, which my mom does to. hahaha
One of my favorite disses ever. Ahhhhh this was back when rappers knew how to handle each other.
