Twista Feat. Liffy Stokes “Wanna See Em Buss” Video
GENERAL By David D. on August 9, 2009 at 11:03 pmAt least thirty-six Chicago Public Schools students were murdered during the 2008-09 school year. That’s three Columbines, fam.
Take a second and let that marinate.
Of course this garners a fraction of the media attention a Columbine massacre does. But I’ll tell you that it’s terrible to watch the news or pick up a newspaper and just think “damn, again?” Once upon a time, I lived in New Orleans, shortly after Katrina when the city was jockeying for the unenviable “Murder Capital” trophy. Even then, it didn’t seem this bad, especially when & where kids are concerned. I don’t have any answers, nor will I pretend. But something has to give; someone has to do something for these kids.
I say all of that to point attention towards Twista’s video that pays tribute to the kids. While I don’t know if this is the song for that as it’s more of a song from the killer’s mind than an elegy to the fallen. But the juxtaposition of the visuals and gritty lyrics seems to work, making me want to send up a few more for the kids living through this epidemic.
Much respect to Twista for this.

“I Aint Shit Without My Homeboys” & “Callin Out Names” = two tracks I revisit often. When Kurupt was on, he was on.
both those tracks are dope.
“I Aint Shit Without My Homeboys” = pretty self-explanatory, lol. an ode to those who got your back is pretty much a sure shot when done correctly, and I like the laid-back cookout feel to it.
“Callin Out Names” = again, pretty self-explanatory. I LOVE how Kurupt was brazen & man enough to name names. 10 years later, we still have fools who do dis songs & do it subliminally with cryptic references about their targets. Say who it is you’re talkin’ about!
welcome home is my breezy summer day smoke out song.
@ Petey - I remembered what you said about Erick Sermon before, & you’re right. Dude is/was one of the illest, underappreciated & overlooked producers ever.
Efil4zaggin and The streetz i a…– the hardest CA-albums ever! both of them smelled cocaine tho… and kurupts followup smelled rehab/detox.
Props on that Kurupt. It’s gonna help in getting me some smoke.
