Say what you will about 808′s…, but you know a sign that you’ve created something worthwhile? When it gets covered endless & reinterpreted countless times, both inside & outside the original genre. Yes, that will be one of the lasting monuments of the album. And since the ghost of Kanye Omari posted it, we’ll assume he/they approve, as we do.

I think melodically and in terms of classic song structure 808 was a towering achievement. If you try to think of it as a rap album it fails … same as if you though “Born in the USA” was a rap album. But it works in its won way. Real recognize real … and real musicians see the genius in this work. I would really like to see an A class tribute to 808s. Please include Melanie Fiona.

808s… probably has had the most commercial shelf life out of all his albums.
It’ll be covered for a while, @ least certain songs. To me, that says something.

I think the fact that the lead singer can, well, sing makes this work. I’ll probably revisit 808s, ’cause it didn’t sound good to me when it first came out. That happens with me, sometimes.
