As if giving Jermaine Dupri’s has-been behind a stab @ the position wasn’t enough, the suits have reportedly decided that The-Dream deserves Executive Vice President of Island Records. My keen nose allows me to smell a Christina album and a brick all in one whiff.
I wanna Thank everyone at Island Records/Def Jam for their faith in me and making me Executive Vice President of Island Records. Thank you to my team. my manager Mark Stewart & my attorney Aaron Rosenberg for getting this 1st step of a goal accomplished. Thanks to Judy. Thank you to my partner Tricky Stewart and the RadioKilla & RedZone Staff. LA Reid, Karen Kwak, Steve Bartels, Joe Barino Steve Gotlieb and Thank you, Universal Chairman, Doug Morris.
I look forward to the challenge of rebuilding music for not only Island Records, But for Universal Records as a whole. Today I’m humbled and blessed. Oh yeah thank you Christina for your wonderful belief in me i love you! also i want to thank the entire Nash family and Milian family for the Super Support you Give! This doesn’t mean i have extra money it means i have extra bills
Hit songs? Yes. Undeniably talented? Yes.
A manager, leader & executive? That remains to be seen. But as a betting man, I’d side with “not likely.”
Update: Lowkey says “The Dream Named Executive Vice President Of Island Def Jam – NOT!” Who knows though?

when the suits see him in board meetings they will undoubtedly be like “fuuuck that niggaaaaaaaaa!”
Jury still out … We have very little evidence of his executive capabilities.
he should have stayed fat…his head looks all big now like a deflated balloon or something.
He already failed horribly with the Electrik Red album (decent although severly underpromoted) and even though he has his niche, to hand over the reigns to The-Dream, a totally unproven commodity as an executive, wreaks of desperation on IDJ’s part.
Every artist will have to incorporate an “aye” into their songs.
Fabolous got Electrik Red’s promo & video budget.
Elektrik who?

And he used it to make the worst hip hop movie since Fat Joe and Mack 10′s Thicker than Water.
Lmaoooo
Only in hiphop/R&B do artists trade their intellectual property and artistic freedom and futures for jobs working for the same folks who ripped them off.
The artists in Rock, country, etc. at least have the decency to hang around way too long playing festivals and ending up as wash-outs on VH-1 shows +TMZ.
good move
lmao at number 1. dream is the best person in r&b hes the only original one from his beats to well his beats
musically hes good, maybe great.
But damn, arent there like 100 other hard working industry types who have been grinding their way up from intern to mailroom to assistant to blah blah blah that are more qualified and more deserved of this position???
Somebody is waiting in the wings contemplating suicide over not getting this promotion.
Artists are “Artists” not executives. Stop pretending.
