Yes, it’s real.
Sony’s making the early holiday push with this slimmed down PStriple. It comes with a 120 gig hard drive and most of the features of the previous models currently on the market. More importantly, Sony must have something with thirds as it’s more than 30% smaller, lighter and uses a third less power than it’s fatter counterpart.
It’s biggest omission is the lack of an Ethernet port. So until further notice it looks like you’ll need wifi access to get online with it. While that’s an unfortunate design choice I think it looks much better than the old version. If history is any indication, it’ll replace the current PS3 models in stores in a couple of years like the PS2 slim and PSone before it. The PS3 Slim drops September 1 for $299.99.

But the 1/3rd lesspower consumption aspect is actually very compelling. This may actually sell. A huge ass hard drive (biggest yet) and for three bills. It’s a deal. Sony knew what they were doing at E3.

At second thought it kinda looks like a fake PS3 that you’d buy in chinatown in that pic. It looks better in the other ones I saw. But in all honesty I wouldn’t mind having one if I give up on coppin a 60 gig on ebay. That dream is still alive 2 years strong haha.
No ethernet port is pretty tight actually, sony is seeing the future of wireless tech and saying yup we dont need it, fine move with me. The thing looks good too. The original one didnt even look bad really, this is nice
Wireless blows when trying to play online. I forfeited several games due to dropping connection. Had to go find my ethernet cord from college dorm days to make sure my shit stayed connected.
I hope this boosts sales for the PS3. It’s embarrassing reading about how that punk ass Wii is quadrupling Playstation’s sales (I own a Wii too).
Co-sign. I suspect my iphone was messing with my wifi connection sometimes when playing cod4..
I’m content with my 80gb. Gotta find some time to clear mine up and convert my extra laptop hd to FAT32 (NTFS won’t work) in order to get 160gb in my ps3.

Everyone I know with a PS3 and 360 uses the wireless instead of ethernet. But you cannot beat 120 gb in a gaming system.
Honestly wifi is cool and all but I’d rather have an ethernet port. It’s faster, better for uploading and downloading and keeps lag down in online games.
Wifi ain’t bad for browsing but thats about it.

I copped street fighter 4 for 20 bucks when gamestop had it on sale last month. It ain’t bad. How’s blazblue? I won’t buy a fighting game for over $20 usually but it looks interesting.

BlazBlue is….different. Steep learning curve, especially for newbies to fighting games, but at the same time is still a bit accessible if that’s possible.
the graphics are beautiful…it’s like an anime come to life as a fighting game.
if you liked Guilty Gear, you’ll definitely like BlazBlue…otherwise, give it a try with an open mind and you’ll prolly like it.
I’ve seen Elite bundles w/ both Halo 3 and Fable 2 at Best Buy a bit ago…if they still sell those specific bundles AND reduce the price at $299….I may still end up copping an Elite > PS3 Slim….as much as I like the new look and all.
I wonder if Best Buy will give me a slim & a credit if I tell them PS3 doesn’t work. They did it when my PS2 went out & the price dropped. Either do that or just put a bigger hard drive in mine.

and while xbox may go down to 300, it still wont be a blu ray player,and you need 100 more dollars for wifi. and the consumer report came out that 54% of xbox have red ringed, compared to 10% for older model ps3′s

There’s no debate if you gettin a system ‘for the family’ & people who really aren’t that into video games then you buy a Wii.
Little Big Planet is about the only good game on the PS3 that I can play with women & that they WANT to play. The Wii on the other hand, girls love that shit and the games make chics get naked.

Ok so it does have an ethernet port. It doesn’t come with an ethernet cable; sorry for the confusion. You can cop one for cheap anyway so that’s not a big deal.

Still, Ethernet port>>>>Wifi for consoles. The convenience of wifi is dope if you can’t plug it in because of your network setup. But hooking it up the old fashioned way is the way to go.
it does come with an ethernet cable. mine did. they all have. why would they stop now? you’re getting everything you get with the “fat” ps3, but now it’s slim and with 120 gb hard drive
