The controversy. The big games. The non-stop coverage. The blowouts. Football season is officially back ladies and gents.
However, let’s focus on that last one for a second. Blowouts are apart of the game and 50% of the time, they always turn out in your favor. Now, we’ve all see our share of 56-10′s, 45-3′s or 38-0′s, but moments ago I came across a point spread which almost made me fall out my chair. On September 5, the defending national champions, the Florida Gators, will open their 2009 campaign against Charleston Southern. Sure, the entire country expects this one to be over by the time you really get settled on your sofa, but this is ridiculous.
It has come to this in college football. Danny Sheridan of USA Today has made Florida a 73-point favorite in its Sept. 5 opening game against Division I-AA Charleston Southern. It’s believed to be the largest pointspread ever for a college football game.
Las Vegas normally doesn’t post lines on games involving Division I-A teams playing I-AA opponents for obvious reasons. It’s simply not a fair fight. I-A teams are allowed to have 85 players on scholarship, I-AA teams only 63. There are a myriad of other reasons, but Sheridan occasionally puts a number on such a game.
73-fuckin-points? Now, you’ve got to work to score 70 points on NCAA or Madden, so I can only imagine what it’s like on an actual field. Is it really that possible to be that unevenly matched? Good grief, if this thing plays out how the “experts” are predicting, those C.S. players won’t be getting groupie love for a month. Now, I don’t think Urban Meyer will run the score up (too much, at least), but who the fuck knows what will happen once Tebow steps on a field? He’s totally different from the Mr. Squeaky Clean image his off-the-field persona portrays.
Expect beer sales to be through the roof that day. That’s the only thing that’s going to keep this game interesting. Damn, how I miss the college lifestyle.

Just put on Marley Marl In Control Vol 1 and just chill!!!!
If they get on the field then you should score as many points as possible
Sweep The Leg!
But sensei…
According to pretty much everybody, Tim Tebow can cure cancer, so I wouldn’t be surprised.
I have no college team. Kind of sad I guess. SU’s football team has sucked since forever. Something about UT-Knox’s team always leaves me on the fence about cheering for them. I guess I root for Vandy.
Overall, I always root for the SEC team.
^ Word. I was forced to root for Bama last year in the Sugar Bowl, even though Utah came through and had to Joe Jackson that ass.
I hate Tebow so go damn much it hurts. I hope he flops in the L. I however wouldn’t be surprised if they score 73, and give up 0 against weak schools.
umm….go Big Ten!!!
lmao…who am I kidding….Gators are the cream of the crop this year…shit, the SEC is going to be a pain for everyone else this year…and the next….the following year…and the next couple of years too.
we win though as fans…as I’m sure a Florida-Ole Miss matchup will be far more entertaining than a Rams-Lions game any day.
University of Oregon Ducks to do big things this year. Watch out for my team.
Well its not the matter of scoreboard and 73 is indeed on a bad score.

Is the UF Gators vs. Charleston Southern is a fair match? The gators 73 favorable points for pete sake. What were they thinking on making that match.
