Since I basically gave up on him after a few more tracks from Straight No Chaser, I’ve second guessed my stance on G.O.O.D. Music’s Mr. Hudson on more than a few occasions. To his credit, I boldly said something along the lines of ‘He can’t make singles.’ Yet, hear I am, practically every day, singing alongside him and Yeezy for the empowering “Supernova.” I mean…just ’cause I like it a whole lot doesn’t mean it’s…an official… hit single? Right?
Couldn’t be.
Right or dead on, someone behind the scenes liked it enough to reincarnate it from the month-old depths of the Internet music morgue, cutting Kanye and accompanying Hudson with an ultra-dramatic string quartet. It’s a nice separation from the pop-ular sound of the last version. So, for it’s nakedness and originality alone, good move.
Except (…and this is a big “except”), who…the…hell…okayed this take for Mr. Hudson’s vocal?Live or not, if you want him to be “the next Sinatra,” yet cannot allow his voice to blatantly crack like that…twice (!) in the first bar of the song. SMMFH. That why we use ProTools. No matter how much I like the old version, I might hate this fuck up enough to let it stop me from listening to the song altogether.
I’m spiteful like that.

Yeah, that first bar was rough. I thought it would be something I wouldn’t have noticed if you didn’t point it out, but it’s blatant. Also kinda painful.
“That why we use ProTools”
don’t tell me that someone writing for this blog (which i love) would be ignorant enough to say “just pro tools that part out”. rookie shit.
if the album iz with that “supernova” type of ish level and also without autotune huh impossible now, but not too much ! so that can be really good. for him, his work and…
his “enorme success in the futur” huh (cf) yeezy
@ Come On, Really?

No, we wouldn’t…and I didn’t.
I said, “that’s why we use Pro Tools” (which you quoted me on…), meaning that the engineer has fucking 80 tracks on ProTools 8 to use, and that he should’ve told Hudson…”Hey, not bad. BUT, let’s save that one and do another couple of takes.”
Who knows, maybe that was the best one.
SMH.
Dang, I was really feelin this guy in the beginning. First came ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ which was a great album with a lot of replay value, then ‘There Will Be Tears’ which managed to catch a raw sorta passion, then ‘Supernova’ which was and is a great single…and then? Dude needs to go back to his roots, or at least only do songs which complement his style.
never gave this dude the attention he’s been used to getting….not really my cup of tea.
Colin Munroe > Mr. Hudson
(is that a viable comparison?)
So was this live at a venue or live in the studio?

kinda tight, this would get all the coldplay fans. that beat is tight, if you could call it that. sorry the instrumental arrangement.
P.S.A yeah thats a pretty valid comparison. I think hudson shit is pretty cool though.
