Well, that was relatively quick.

The Eagles cut a two-year deal with Vick just when it looked like some organizations weren’t interested in him. I always knew he would return even when he was convicted two years back. Vick paid his debt to society and seems sincere in learning from his mistakes. Now it’s time to showcase his talent and entertain us. I mean let’s be real. He was the primary reason why most people checked for the Falcons anyway.

Vick’s signing just goes to show that you can’t have your cake and eat it too. He had to go with the Eagles though? C’mon son why the Eagles? The root of my “anger” over the deal stems from my allegiance to division rival the Giants. Beggars can’t be choosers but there had to be other options even if those offers weren’t as attractive. He won’t get much PT behind Donovan “Chunky Soup” McNabb who made the most out of a turbulent season last year. Still, Vick will probably see the field if Donovan screws up or gets hurt (pretty even odds on both).

Petty differences aside, Mike Vick got another shot and that’s what matters. And what better place than Philly? He comes into a system pretty much tailored to his skill set and a winning situation. You can’t ask for more than that. That’s huge considering how this man was damn near crucified by the same media that adored him in his prime (ESPN anyone?).

Aside by Malik V. — Today was an interesting day in the NFL in the sense that while one man was able to find a new home after doing his time, another player is just beginning to serve his punishment. Commissioner Goodell suspended Cleveland Browns receiver Donte Stallworth for the entire season for his DUI manslaughter charge. It’s beyond me to try to and juxtapose the crimes that Vick and Stallworth committed. But after all the speeches and sentences, I hope both men are able to find teams and people that are willing to give them a fresh start.
