…Now I’m The Teacher, Come Here Let Me Teach You.”
I’ve never been a big fan of the term weed carrier, but regardless of it’s derogatory connotations it’s the perfect term to describe Bleek. He’s been apart of Jay-Z’s camp since the beginning and should prove as a model to aspiring weed carriers everywhere. So, in light of all the leaks we’ve gotten from BP3 over the last week, it’s no surprise Memph had a few things to say on the matter.
“Man , you know where that’s coming from. That’s Timbo’s camp. Somebody is playin’ dirty. It’s cool though. I like to see the people’s opinions. I’ve been reading the comments on Jay’s records saying that the beats don’t sound like this or that. I think they just set the bar too high for my guy.”
With most of the fallen Roc-A-Fella dynasty still throwing shots at the crown (rightfully so), Malik knows where his bread is buttered. Loyalty’s great, but with everything that came out being produced by Timbaland, it’s easy (& rightly so) to call out Mr. Mosely.
But to say us fans have set the bar too high for Jay-Z is taking it too far. I mean he gave himself the nickname Jay Hova, not us. We may have went along with it, but that’s not the point. No one told him to name this album after arguably the best Hip-Hop album of the last decade & release it on the same day as it’s highly regarded predecessor. The bar may have been set too high, but we didn’t place it up there.
I know you were just doing your job Bleek, but perhaps you should’ve recycled this jewel that you quoted back to Jay.
“A couple of years back, I had asked Jay why he doesn’t make another “Big Pimpin.” This was like four years ago when I asked him this and his answer to me was ‘Why would I do that?’ “Big Pimpin” is already made. So then, I didn’t understand what he meant by that and I’m like so what, I would just make six of those and ride it to the end of the wave. But he’s right because if you make four more of those records, then the original won’t be hot anymore. You have to move on to the next wave and I think that people want him to stay Reasonable Doubt, Volume 2, Blueprint Jay. He’s not that guy anymore, he’s outta here.”
Are the leaks unfortunate. Of Course Not Sure they are. Did Jay take the proper precautions to prevent this from happening? Yeah. Were the expectations for this album set too high? Nope, they’re right where Jay set them at.
* If it makes you feel any better. I’m sure Yayo’s taking notes for BSID.

@ Greums
When you joining Twitter?
Great piece, MZ. I agree, that’s what happens when you call yourself such an outrageous title.
As soon as I get back in, I’ll give the album a spin. Hopefully it lives up to expectations.
Greums on Twitter would be dope.
@True Clientele
probably soon homie

the link is real. believe that. i’m 12 tracks deep thus far.
Wow, the DOPE songs are the ones that didn’t leak… everything but the leaks are quality, not a good reflection on the album as a whole, it’s a solid CD, should get 4/5 Cigs, I’m loving it
THIS IS THE FULL ALBUM WITHOUT THE EXTRA TRACKS quick download

Does Jay give himself pretintious titles? Sure. But how many rappers exalt themselves on a regular basis? Pretty much all of them do. Its apart of the culture, but even in this arena of megalomania there are only a small few who are asked to deliver unrealistic unflawed material that we sit and wait like peronas, not to enjoy, but to mutilate with teeth of HARSH inconsistant criticism. Jay-Z is one of those few.
Its not even talking about him calling himself Jay- Hova , or album dates ( because I’m pretty sure we dont hold OBFCL2 to the same unrealistic levels). We should just wait for the album to drop and if its good then its good. If it sucks then it sucks, but we keep ourselves from thoroughly enjoying music because we’ve developed into an over-conscience audience.
Damn! I owe Jay an apology (not Timbo tho, them beats were garbage), this ish is fire!
Def copping a disc!
Jim Jones = Lord Of The Weed Carriers
He actually got signed with little actual musical talent.
And I think we were rough on Timbo. His tracks on BP3 slap hard.
“Off That” is a certified club hit. I know first hand.
This shit is sugar.
I like it, but it won’t stick to the ribs…
I like it, but it won’t stick to the ribs…
===========================
The cat who’s followed Jay since Reasonable Doubt is gonna feel the same way.
Brooklyn is gonna have the *blank face* at some of these songs.
At this point I suppose liking an album is enough. I suspect it won’t stick to the ribs, but I guess that’s not for me to say right now. Every time I listen to it, I’ll have to bump some M.O.P. right after though…
How the fuck is Jay’s album gonna leak before Rae’s. Is there something Wu-Tang knows that no one else does?
Yeah, I doubt anyone affiliated with Wu Tang knows what Gmail is.
“OBFCL2 will do SlaughterHouse numbers.” – Darius Sinclair
and slaughterhouse is a four members group
it is what it is…. got the leak shit up on my site… But Jay is kinda starting to sound a lil umm… well, old school.. but how could ya blame him? he’s still gonna sell better than any other “rapper” this year etc etc. Wus next for Bleek? huh?! =/
Bleek’s a millionaire and will always be a hit away.
I’ll always check for his stuff though. He’s got a solid discog in my opinion
anyone knows/has bleeks “him or me”? it’s on a dj juice tape from 2000, would love to have a unmixed version of the song.
