In a perfect world, Freddie Gibbs & Pill would live right next door to each other. That way we could get more tracks like “Womb 2 The Tomb.” As it stands though, they’ve managed to connect & get down on a few tracks that are still under wraps but we’re getting a chance to hit you off with one, “Womb 2 The Tomb.”
With a chorus that channels the spirit of a Thug Life-era Pac, Gary, Indiana’s Gibbs & Atlanta’s Pill come together to bring havoc over Mr. Lee’s synths. While Pill’s hoarse voice & double-talk (“cold-hearted for cash, a damn dummy for duckets…”) are a force on the track, it’s Freddie’s second the verse that seals the deal.
“I played the field with major pills
The shit I got’ll give niggas the chills
This is the way that I live for real
Young & trill, I brung the steel against they will
My lungs is filled with Cali kill
I got that yack, so crack a seal
I stack those bills to half a mil
Praying I never go broke again…
…Refuse to lose and hope to win
Strictly gettin’ paid,
From the womb to the tomb
Cradle to the grave.”
That’s it. By the end of those two successive verses, you should already be ready to hit the back button & listen again. As I mentioned the other day, regional rap is back again folks, with a force & sincerity. Let us all rejoice.

Presented by DJ Skee, Gibbs’ midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik should be in your area soon. Keep your eyes open & your wallet in your front pocket.

Hell yes. Great to see two of the dopest young rappers collaboing. this shit sounds classic! also great to see dj skee on board with Freddie Gibbs!!!!!
I’ve made my own list of the top 10 freshmen of 2009. IMO of course.
Freddie is on there.
This kid is the truth. I’ve DL’ed just about everything he’s done & I’m convinced he’s gonna be one of the MC’s the major publication’s are gonna kick themselves for overlooking.
So of course he gets much pub in The Section lol.
I swear, TSS is lightyears ahead of the curve.
I need midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik early. His last mixtape never left the iTouch.
Usershare’s fucking up.

good lord….
i’m playing this shit hella loud allll the way as i ride out to IND to fill my gas tank up this weekend.
If people sleep on this music, they’re just doomed to hate life… Gangsta Gibbs is about to take over…
dope track. dope artists.
@ Amp
yo homey, drop ya list/do an article
I got a list too. And these cats are on it.
Nope, I aint predicting them to change the game, be big stars or none of that shit. What they will do is make powerful music.
I think they can change the game though. That real shit needs to come back. The game needs street cnn. Not this outerspace post-kanye bullshit.
Add Killer Mike and Mikkey to make a supergroup and Gotty has an aneurism
i fully support this.
all day
all day.
I think they can change the game though.
============
And I do too. 100%. In fact, I hope they do. But like I just told someone, I’d like to see them achieve a level of “stardom” that still allows them to be authentic. Too often, the give & take of fame takes away key parts that made you a “star” in the first place.
But again don’t get my words twisted; I know they’ll both keep making powerful music. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste our bandwith biggin’ them up every chance we get.
I feel you Gotty 100%…what i mean by change the game is just what you said. Make it so that real shit can survive in the mainstream again. The Wire is one of the most critically accalimed and watched shows in recent memory and it’s 100% real. For all of these disney channel and saturday morning cartoon rappers, theres dudes like PILL and FREDDIE GIBBS who are the Wire of rap. Just like HBO, raw and uncesored!
Excellent metaphor sir.
The Wire never won an award but critics & fans loved it. That’s how I feel about these dudes music. It ain’t for the people deciding who gets Grammys. it’s for the people. It’s our goal to make sure as many people as possible hear it.
Signed,
Gotty Luther King singing from the mountaintop
Freddie killed that shit
Damn this is ill. Can’t wait until this tape drops. Nothing like raw, authentic music…which this is. Good post, Gotty.
the miseducation of freddie gibbs was really dope from front to back
I’m sorry…but who?
consider myself put on for the time being….
*takes a listen*
gotty you need to make a post on ___ and show those people who the real rappers are in the game and im sure more will follow and possibly these guys will get bigger
@ Gotty: Gotty Luther King??? Ha Ha Ha!!! That’s the illest moniker that I’ve heard in a looong time, nice. I must concur, Gangsta Gibbs is on my list of next generation emcees. That “Miseducation” mixtape is too hot right now, 100% skip-proof like a late-90′s Sony Discman. It’s good to have some ill street rap; the hiphop nerd shit is cool but I need hood bangaz damn it.
What y’all know bout gibbs HMD mad ass middle in this bitch
Straight fire! Dope lyrics & beat! Shout out to Freddie! Keep shinning!
how could this NOT be dope? waiting intently on both these cats albums/careers/discographies/”hood awards” lol…they’re that next shit (plus, and i know Gotty likes this too, the shit sounds RIGHT in the system.)
still bumpin it.
whoa.
I’m Lovin it
