“My Name Is Earl…”
AUDIO By J. Tinsley on August 13, 2009 at 1:32 pmIndustry Rule #4085: Never listen to DMX while doing laundry. No, not because he’d subconsciously convince you to mutilate all of your clothes. Rather because, if you’re like me, you’d pay so much attention to the lyrics that you’d put too much detergent in the washing machine. Thus causing a smaller scale version of this. The track I kept on repeat for awhile was the infamous “2Pac diss.” With Pac standing as my favorite musician of all time, I actually like to hear disses towards him mainly because I’m so used to hearing Pac diss people. It’s a nice change of pace, if that makes any sense whatsoever.
“Transforming ass niggas who’ll can get it quick
And yo for real, that nigga 2Pac can suck my d*ck
And it’s gon’ take all them niggas in the West Coast to barely move me
Cause when I blow shit up, I have niggas fallin’ like white bitches in a scary movie.”
That’s right, you’ve heard these bars before on X’s classic… *ahem* CLASSIC…debut It’s Dark & Hell Is Hot, specifically the track “Get At Me Dog.” Only difference being the Pac and West Coast shots were removed because at that time of the album’s release, the year was 1998 (two years after Shakur’s date with destiny on that Las Vegas strip). Even with his prison stints and bouts with drug addiction, X remains one of my favorite artists of all time and IDAHIH is a top five album ever…at least in my book.
Download — DMX – “Get At Me Dog” (OG Version; 2Pac & West Coast Diss)
Bonus — DMX – “Slippin’” (Mastered/Dirty Version)
Double Bonus — Since we’re mentioning OG ‘Pac disses, here’s one more from Lil’ Kim.
“Oh yeah, who shot ya?
Who knows, but they gotcha
Fed up, UH, wet up
Maybe next time ya punk ass’ll ‘Keep Yo Head Up…”
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who Kim was referring to with those bars.
Download — Lil’ Kim – Big Momma Thing (OG Version; 2Pac & Faith Diss)

Top five album ever though?
2Pac/Dmx/Canibus/Kurupt
dat would have been kind of Slaughters
if these dudes was homies, in da House !
@Paw. I wouldnt have said it myself but I can see how someone else can say that. It was epic.
Remember how Jay-Z and DMX were on the same level of popularity back then. A contrast in style, flow, approach. Mutual respect. Dang now look at em… They apparently never stopped growing in the contrasting directions
But yes it is dope album, 98 was the year of the Pitbull for sure.
2010 will be the year of the Ram, thanks to Ram Squad.
@Cell, yep, yep, DMX and Jay-Z were definitely on par in 98. Thanks to DMX, horrorcore was still in motion.
” you know I dont know how to act”
“get to close to niggas is like….protected by viper stand back”
I am hoping for a comeback of epic proportions. That bark would get folks hyped. ‘Stop being greedy’ was the shit.
Wasn’t there a Biggie song that dissed Pac; I remember hearing a snippet of it on an old Clue mixtape (and I am not talking about Who Shot Ya)?
Listening to this track gives me the overwhelming feeling that his joints back then were more real than anything I can think of thats out now……can anyone help me ?
i personally think ATF is one of the best “no hook” rap songs ever, plus it told a great story
**********
“Transforming ass niggas who’ll can get it quick
And yo for real, that nigga 2Pac can suck my d*ck
**********
That wasnt a 2pac diss.. it was at K-Solo
In the first or second BEEF dvd X goes over it
K Solo stole his SPELLBOUND raps and they beefed in the prison yard
When X got out, he put K on blast in the first single
“Transforming ass niggas who’ll can get it quick
And yo for real, that nigga K can suck my d*ck
hehe, that man signed his name as K Solo. Shots!
@fluff daddy
The original “Brooklyns Finest” on Reasonable Doubt had a shot at Pac at the end but Jay made him take it off because he didnt have a problem with him.
At the end of the song:
“tossin ya, mad slugs through your Nautica, I’m warning ya most wanted in Californ-i-a”
I dont remember ever havin the dirty version of Slippin so I downloaded the one in the post and its been a minute since I played that track but the posted version sounds off to me. Not feelin it. That chic singing on the chorus isn’t in the clean version right?
Good lookin on the Kim track. Use to have that track on cassette n was so mad that it wasn’t on the album.
Yes. IDAHIH is CLASSIC.
The End.
@K Solo
how is it not a Pac diss? He starts the verse with establishing his EAST coast presence…..Then um…He says Pac can suck his dick! Dont worry K, he still dissed you too.
Man, I miss X
A lot of rappers but not many Rap Artist.
dmx’s albums are the most over rated in all of rap.
they served there purpose and filled a void for grimy eastcoast rap in the 90’s but that barking shit he was doing killed it for me.
i also got tired of hearing about how amazing it was to see him cry everynight in concert…shit was gimmicky to me.
thats fucked up how the drugs did him in. Hope he come back strong tho!
DMX used to cry every night in concert???
What’s all that about then?
At the end of the song:
“tossin ya, mad slugs through your Nautica, I’m warning ya most wanted in Californ-i-a”
============================================================
He left in the “I Faith have twins she’ll prolly have two Pacs…get it 2-Pac’s” that don’t really make much sense…
I remember seeing the Hard Kock Life tour back in ‘99 when I was a young’n. DMX absolutely MURDERED his set on his own while Jay rocked a lackluster set with his fellow Roc-A-Fellians. A stark contrast, indeed.
Good looks on this post tho, Tinsley. I misplaced the dirty version of Slippin’ and I’ve never heard this West Coast diss version of “Get At Me Dog.”
Infinite props.
Also, @fluffdaddy I think “Long Kiss Goodnight” on Life After Death is dissing Pac & the West Coast.
I saw the Hard Knocklife concert. D’ didn’t cry at all. Caused a few fights. Lol. That’s it.
YEa, IDAHIH is a definite classic!!

Sir Run Run Paw Says:
…2010 will be the year of the Ram, thanks to Ram Squad.
what?
Thugnificence, whats there not to get? Two Pacs (two baby pacs) get it tupac’s (tupac’s baby). Brilliant line, stands out on first listen.
Drop a gem on em>>>>>>>>>>
It was mad subliminal but harder for it “who shot ya, you’d probably scream louder than an opera” “you could get bucked again..”
Biggy never went at Pac (even in Who Shot Ya)… he and Bad Boy didn’t want any part of that beef.
That Biggy line about “two Pacs” is one of the worst of Biggy’s career. Yeah, we get it Big… your wife is pregnant because Pac probably inseminated her… haha.
Word at the “Drop a Gem” shotout. Chino XL also had a great Pac dis freestyle.
