The more stamps your passport gains undoubtedly the more stories you’ll collect. Flat tires, missed flights, traveler’s diarrhea, it all adds to the baggage of being a constant traveler. As someone whose travels have been limited to the borders of the U S of A, all I can do is imagine speeding down the Autobahn or bouncing around a crowded club in Helsinki.

In the case of my hometown brethren, CunninLynguists and their foreign connects, the Looptroop Rockers and Hilltop Hoods, their road stories are nothing but strange. From less than desirable groupies to crooked promoters, these veterans of the road use a mixture of southern twang and heavy accents from across the pond to open the gates on a gang of hilarious stories. Sprinkle it all over a beat from Kno and you’ve got yourself some brand new fonk from the avengers of the new south.

CunninLynguists new LP, Strange Journey Volume One is an ode to the road, chronicling their travels over the years. Each guest feature is similar to a passport stamp on the album itself, showing where the trio has traveled musically. Some of the features included are Khujo Goodie, Killer Mike, Mac Lethal and Slug of Atmosphere. Volume Two is slated for a September release and will feature guest shots from Sean Price, Guilty Simpson, Bronze Nazareth and J-Zone. Strange Journey Volume One is available in stores and on iTunes.
